Hi, I'm pretty much 100% sold on jamstix2 after playing with the demo for a couple of hours, but I am curious as to whether there are more 6/8 styles in the full version? Me and my partner both tend to use 6/8 a lot in our playing, and I could only find the 6/8 Blues and 6/8 Rock styles when I was messing with it. Mixing those up with the different drummers is pretty impressive, but I wonder if there's more in the full version or the expansion paks?

The styles in the demo and the full version are identical. The BonzoPak has two additional 6/8 styles.

But the real beauty of the A.I. engine in JS2 is that you can use many other styles in 6/8 mode with good results. Jamstix will automatically adjust the style to the signature. For example: try the 'Classic R&B' style.

I'm just starting to play with some 6/8 time stuff so good post timing!

Q: If I load the Blues 6/8 style, for example. when I open a part it shows 4/4 time.

Could you clarify what is happening with this to get it to play in 6/8 but the part shows 4/4?

Thanks!

The host must be set to the desired time signature.

aha.
I use Reaper.

I have a project in 4/4 time.
I load the Blues 6/8 demo song and it sounds quite funky still, but the parts also show 4/4.

I change the reaper project to 6/8 and it plays all strange, stopping and starting.

So I then go through and change the parts to 6/8 and now it seems to play ok.

Q How come the 6/8 song has all the parts set to 4/4? (seems a little confusing as demo)

Is this the process I have to use if I want to use time sigs in jamstix (as per rtfm page 40 - enable option for time sig changes, make each part with the time sig needed, change host project setting to the time sig to match)? (I guess it's all because it's the only way you can have a song with multiple time sig changes controlled from host.)

Do I still need to do this for a song just in 6/8, for example? (dumb question I guess, just checking!)

Cheers, kt

Please go to 'Options' and UNcheck 'Allow Time Sig Changes'. After that you do not have to set any parts time signature and Jamstix will always follow the time signature you set in the host.

Checking the option and then specifying the desired time sig for every part is only necessary if your song has a time sig change within it.
