I'm running the latest beta, 2.2.2 beta 14. Firstly, a small thing-- when you preview a rhythm, like in the import jamstix 1 groove dialog, the beat does not stop previewing when you hit the preview button again.
Secondly, when working with the style "import", when i import a groove and play with it, and then later switch the i groove to a new imported groove, some bars are not clearing themselves, even when you press trash can or recompose. For instance, bar 1 has like 4 snare hits, 6 hihats, and a few kicks that will not go away. So when jamstix adds the new groove, it adds it to what's already in that bar, but all the other bars come out fine. (Workaround solution is to manually delete the notes that will not clear themselves.) Thanks! (I saved the song, so if you wnat i can send you the file. Let me know.) |

Thanks for catching the preview bug, we will fix that right away.
Concerning the import function: can you send me a song file that has this problem so I can try to duplicate this here? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I checked your song. The events in question in bar 1 are locked. That is why they don't get removed during the new import. You can unlock them manually or use the unlock all option in the Locking menu of the bar menu. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ok, guess that makes sense, but i'm wondering what would cause them to get locked in the first place, and only in bar 1. (I did not lock them manually). Are hits from the first groove i imported locked into place or something? (a different time, i had some locked notes in bar 3, same circumstances, but what causes this to occur?)

I am not aware of any auto-locking of non-manual events. What version of Jamstix are you using? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Btw, any update on the midi jamming? (i.e were u able to reproduce this problem?) I see in the manual it states that for midi jamming to work, u need to have jamstix selected as a midi output. So in my case i am running the "jamstix as midi input, BFD2 as midi output" setup (because of mixed mono and stereo outputs), so maybe this is why it's not working for me, but i think this used to work for me in jamstix 1, if i am not mistaken. (As this has pretty much been my method of choice from the outset, rather than go the sub-host route.)

Sorry, i was referring to the fact that i can' t get jamstix to jam with me in midi jam when i am running it as Jamstix in midi input and bfd2 as midi output. In other words it does not respond to my dynamic level, but if i switch the track to jamstix output with a jamstix drumset it works just fine. I don't remember this being the case in jamstix 1, but maybe i'm wrong. Truth is, now that i'm thinking about it, i could subhost bfd2 when i wanna midi jam, since in most cases i won't be mixing the drums then anyway (mixed stereo and mono outputs). So that should work.

MIDI jam with an external BFD requires the following:
- MIDI track with Jamstix on it has a valid MIDI input selected (keyboard etc.) or recorded MIDI data
- a second MIDI track exists with input=Jamstix and output=BFD _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Not sure if i completely understand. let's say i am playing ivory piano or some other vst, and that's my midi information that i want jamstix to play along with. So i have a track with valid midi input (my midi controller going thru my audio interface) and Ivory VST output. Now i have another track going with Jamstix input and BFD2 output. So now i should have a third track also running, with my midi controller (same one as before, that's controlling Ivory) as the input and jamstix as the output?

Yes. The MIDI information from the keyboard has to go to your piano module AND Jamstix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
