Jamcussion is still quite a ways off but here are a few quick teaser MP3s:

Download MP3 - Moribayassa/Tom Groove

This is the Moribayassa Jamcussion style combined with a tom groove.

Download MP3 - Mozambique/Custom

This is the Mozambique drum style played with the BonzoPak and Jamcussion uses its 'Custom' style to add full-tilt percussion with three players. During the demo, song power is increased to show how it affects the play styles. Ambience is also changed to show how Jamcussion can go from ultra-dry to ultra-wet.

Download MP3 - Tumbao/Martillo/2-3 Clave

The first part has a Bossa groove on the drums and Jamcussion plays a combo of 3/2 clave, Tumbao and Martillo with it. Note the way each conga and bongo is played differently on each bar. The 'Tumbao' for example uses four sounds: muted, rim, bass and medium (or some would say muffled, slap, bass, open) and the default sequence would be MMSMMBOO. However, in this example the player is set to randomize the assignments for every bar so you may get BBSBBOMM etc. Notice that the logical structure of the Tumbao stays intact and only the sounds of the drum used change. On top of that, the percussionists are putting various accents to keep things interesting.

The second part shows what happens when you use the Cajon instead of the drumset Smile

Download MP3 - Afro-Cuban Improvisation

This demo shows off the conga and bongo player improvising. This is all done via accents so you just set it and sit back and watch. Note that Guiro and the 2/3 clave played by an Udu.

This screenshot shows how the JC players integrate into Jamstix:

This screenshot shows the overlay for JC kit editing:

I don't feel that pricing is the big concern ...... everything from Rayzoon has been priced fairly up to this point. The issue for me is the anticipation of when Rolling Eyes ....... hey, maybe a nice birthday present in September? Wink

Doug

BTW - Since I've had the extra time to get deeper into the power of Jamstix 2, I now am beginning to see how involved the process of making a good drum part really is. No wonder our drummers back in the 60's never seemed to be paying much attention to the music! Laughing

if you have the possibility, considering adding the tablas (indian percussion) and maybe other ethnic percussions from around the world! they add color to every production!!
also, i expect some different rhtyms or style, usable for different genres of music

moreover, i hope that you will still be able to use external samples and your own samples, even if it will maybe be difficult to arrange multisampled external percussions with a variety of hits into the engine...

anyway... i will buy it in every case!! Smile

The sounds for Jamcussions are set at this time. They have been recorded and edited so that part of the work is completed.

Style wise, Jamcussion will focus on Afro-Cuban, West African and Middle Eastern patterns. We simply had to draw lines somwhere in terms of sound and style palette. Otherwise it would never be done Smile

Once we get this out and see how it sells and what the feedback is, we may be able to expand on it down the road and add Indian sounds/styles.

PS: I just added a second demo MP3 to the first post.

Jamcussion integrates into Jamstix so you have the normal kit options available, including subhosting. Direct use of external samples is not supported in Jamstix and, thus, not in Jamcussion. You'll have to subhost a sampler for that.

yes, that was my original question, even if it was not clear (i use kontakt2 along with JS) ... acutally, if it works with external sampeR like jamstix2 and you can use, in this way, external sampleS just like JS, then it's ok!! Smile

Ralph

It sounds great. I will be near the front of the line to buy it. I am already hoping for a Taiko addon pack. Keep up the great work.

I am really waiting for this. Sounds very promising!

And: if you release an Indian add-on (especially tablas and dhols): I will be the first to order. (I believe, however, Indian rhythmic structure will be a challenge to the engine)

cheers, drjee

Wow.

The superlative sampling of the bonzo kit has now been carried on into the percussion. It all sounds so real and human. The demos are nearly played out before I can convince myself they are computer generated.

Can't wait to try this.

Digging out my Caravanserai cd to hear how its all done.
