jamstix2beta9 works so great with BFD2, I can hardly believe how good it sounds, could listen for ages: just with savihost plugin and letting it run; tweaking the drums and players. The metal, bonzo and other paks are not to be laughed at either, some great sounds there also. Keep up the creative work, best bit of software to be released since...., maybe it just is the best ever.

hmmm...I seem to get an error with Jamstix 2 when i try the new betas. I use reaper and energy XT 1/2 as hosts. I tried installing from scratch, erasing reg keys(not sure i did this right as it never asks for my key again) but i always get this error "you need to run the newest updater..."

hey Ralph if you know what i should do to remedy this behavior can you email me or post here?

my email is: hit.woot (AT) gmail (DOT)com thanks Smile

I replaced the Jamstix2.dll (betta 2.2.9 at main folder) open at host as VSTI (nuendo)..... error. U need to run the latest Jamstix updater. If U have manually moved the data folder and/or DLL before, U will need to manually move the updated files. If none of this helps and the message persists, please contact rayzoon support for help.

Hog: did you have 2.2.1 before? If not, please run the 2.2.1 updater first and then replace the beta DLL.

Just released Beta 13 with several fixes and some cool new functions. Please check out the new 'Extract From Other Style' option in the brain menu. You can now pick groove or accent element(s) from any style and add it to your current style!

Hi Ralph! Felt I had to let you know how pleased I am with the new features in beta13, 'specially the 'extract from other groove/style'. You've been reading my mind,as I've been wanting something like this for ages! Brilliant, well done!! Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I'd like to suggest a couple more future update ideas if you don't mind. How about something similar to the new 'extract from other style',but applied to fills? Perhaps being able to apply another drummers fill style to specific fill bars, and,or,use other styles fill types. that wuold be great as you can never have enough variations in fills to work with. Also,I find that despite how I set the fill direction/size settings in any style, or drummer, the fills predominately start on the lowest tom available. This is not strictly speaking 'wrong' but,as an ex drummer turned guitarist I know that tom fills usually start on the highest, or next highest tom and then go up/down whatever from there. Maybe a new setting in the fill section could determine wether tom fills mainly start on the highest or lowest tom? I leave it with you to decide as I know you'll come up with a great way of implementing my ideas if you feel their worth it. This is the first time I've used this forum to give you feedback Ralph, though I've meant to before and haven't got round to it! I love Jamstix2 and use it all the time in my music, keep up the great work!!!

We are working on 'Extract From Other Player' as well as fill option extraction support.

Look at 'Toms' 'Direction' in the fill brain controls. If it is set to 'Down' it will always start at the higher tom.

Changes Since 2.2.2 Beta 9
  • added 'Extract From Other Style' to the brain menu, which allows the extraction of a groove or accent element from another style into the current style
  • most list elements in the brain can now be left clicked on the text to select via a popup menu for faster editing
  • added 'Fill Type' option to fill generator which allows 'Groove'-based fills in addition to the normal 'Free Form' fills. Groove fills keep the right hand playing the underlying groove while kick and left-hand produce various counter grooves. The result is a fill that is less 'interrupting' and more integrated with the underlying groove.

Oh my god, awesome work! The 'groove' fill option is just brilliant, EXACTLY what I needed, and the other two features I quoted are wonderful as well! I do want to request one more thing though, which is a 'cymbals on snare' option for fills as well as 'cymbals on kick'.

Thank you Ralph, I love this new Groove Fill addon. I've always wanted an easier way to do simpler fills while I'm thinking where to put those other
complicated ones without interrupting the overall feel of the song.

Awesome.

Hey Ralph, Is JS2 updater the same as a full JS2 installer (both 10MB files)?

They are not the same, although similar in size.

Congratulations, Ralph, this beta 13 has been a huge step to JS 2, ´extract from other style´ fill enhancements and left clicking on the text to select via a popup menu are all great options.

I wonder if there´s any chance of a ´copy -> copy fill setting to all parts´ option to be easily implemented. The same with accents would be a big time saver as well.

Thanks.
