I have Jamstix 2 but I find I it is not comfortable for me to use it for composition and feel like EZDrummer is more my speed for composition - drag and drop of grooves etc. But since I have already invested in Jamstix I am wondering whether I should buy EZDrummer for its interface and MIDI grooves, or just buy a library like Groove Monkee. Does Groove Monkee allow previewing clips then drag and drop like EZDrummer. I will still use Jamstix to play the grooves and get a little variation. Thanks.

groove monkee are just just midi files. You would need to preview in your host.

Check out addictive drums or BFD2 if you want finer control of your drum sounds.

They each come with 1000s of midi grooves.

Hi
gmon are right groove monkey is just a midi files library.
jamstick 2 indeed can export midi to host like ezdrummer.
see here:

And for complete tweaking i 'll suggest a Sampler or Battery from NI.
the problem with js2 ezdeummer or bf2 u can't import u're own wave aif etc files...

There are things I prefer about the Groove Monkee libraries, and things I prefer about EZDrummer's. But most of the advantages of the GMonkee libraries are that the loops have more unique fills, and have accents in the loops. EZD's library, on the other hand (as well as the not-insignificant expansions to the library which come with each EZX), concentrate on having just about every possible groove variation, but with no accents and a relatively small selection of fairly generic fills. Since it sounds like you'll still be using JS for accents and fills, EZDrummer sounds like the better choice. You should also be able to get some mileage out of its sounds, which in my opinion outstrip Jamstix's by a fair margin (more velocity layers and round-robin samples).
