Hi there,
I'm a newbie so looking to learn allot and
folks may benefit as I often poke around in programs and eventually get them doing innovative stuff. So I figured I'd join up and push this application.
However, all illusions of grandeur aside for one moment I'm stuck at base camp!
The problem is I install Jamstix 2 on my laptop and open it up in either Minihost, Chainer or Mixcraft and get the same result with all three. I go to load the kits as advised using the load button, all good so far. I then have to navigate to where the kits are. I get there and there's nothing! Weird thing is I close it all down, go back in through windows to where the kits data is filed and bingo all the kit data files are there where they should be!
I've tried numerous uninstall. reinstalls of Jamstix but alas to no avail.
Any advice would be much appreciated, and there's a free album of music to be streamed and/or downloaded in mp3 form for your iPod or whatever at stephen-gee.com.

Cheers,javascript:emoticon('Wink')
Wink

Stephen.

Hi Smile

Are you sure you have installed the Jamstix stock kit?
Check if there are samples in your \jamstix2\data\sounds folder.

OK thanks Moderator.
I'll open her up and take a peek.
Now first off let me explain my filing structure.
I've gotten into the habit of putting ALL my vstis in my Steinberg/VSTI folder. I like them all there in one place so I don't have to go scouring my registry for stuff in various different folders - Native Instruments, Factory, Spectrasonics etc. I'll even change the name of .dll files too so that I can quickly go to the Steinberg file and find what I'm looking for something like -

Steinberg/VSTI/DRUMS - Jamstix.dll

But back to the problem.
I get to the Steinberg/VSTI folder, open it up, find Jamstix 2, open that up and then open up the 'data' folder and blow me down no folder marked stock kit! There's every other folder - "Additive Drums', 'Battery' 'BFD', "jazz', 'Latin' 'rock' etc. You get the picture but there's no such thing 'stock kit' there!
That's baffling!
So what to do?
I suppose I'll get the software disc out and try uninstalling then re-installing again, this time paying particular interest to see I don't inadvertently skip over some step in the process.
In the meantime I'd appreciate any tips on how I could be screwing up too.
I'll let you know how progress goes, Cheers!

OK.
So I dug the disc out, got it in D drive to see what's on it and no mention of a stock kit.
There is only a Jamstix 2.1.4 setup exec file, Jamstix 2 updater exec file, Metal pak file and XL parts 1, 2, and 3 files.

So where do I get the stock kit?
Is it in the demo version or what?
And how come I didn't get the stock kit to begin with? (I bought this software from a computer store here in Ozzy.
The guys there downloaded it, burnt it to disc and sold it to me so I could pay them cash as I don't use paypal and HATE credit cards so don't use one.
Perhaps they overlooked to download the stock kit?

What do you reckon is going on?

Cheers, Stephen.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
The stock kit isn't in hte demo version.
It's definitely not on the disk I got sold.
So basically I'm up the shit creek without a paddle unless someone has any suggestions where I obtain the stock kit from.

You definitely should have received a jamstix2_stock_kit.rxp2 file with the size of 85,6 MB.
If you don´t have it, you´re basically missing all the stock kit sounds. Please email support AT rayzoon.com to get you sorted by Ralph.

The computer store that purchased from us needs to straighten this out for you. They forgot to put the stock kit on your CD. The whole thing is grey-zone to begin with as they are not allowed to resell Jamstix in any shape or form. However, if this was just some sort of 'special help in order to complete purchase' then that's okay. You should definitely have your name associated with the license by having the store tell us your name/e-mail as the true owner of the license.

Thanks Ralph.
It is as you say simply assistance with purchase. They aren't reselling anything.
As I said I DON'T ever use a credit card. So when I have to make the occasional purchase of a vsti or something else i simply go to the store get them to download it for me and pay them a few bucks extra for the trouble. That's always been no problem until this time.
I'll go back to them and ask them to fix it up for me. I'll ask them to associate my name with the product too.
Cheers.

It's all good now.
So the store and the good Rayzoon have sorted out my missing Stock kit.
The Application has been fired up and all kits loaded.
First impression is that this is going to be a killer app.
I'm traveling overseas to Korea in the next couple of days.
I'm starting a job teaching music and aim to let the kids at the school get their hands dirty with vsti including this one.
That might seem a bit of a crazy thing to do, but I find kids are so naturally curious and tend to think outside the square. As such they come up with innovative approaches to stuff which lead to interesting discoveries.
So I'll be back with a report on how things go as the kids and I experiment with Jamstix 2.

Thanks ralph.
The long turbulent trip to Korea is now a fading memory.
Two weeks later and I've got myself a new MIDI controller.
I open up mixcraft 4 which I've chosen for the kids as a DAW with it's simple GUI and bold graphics. I attempt to use jamstix, which works fine in pro-tools but alas it loads but won't work in MC4. So I load Chainer, then try setting jamstix withing Chainer. Still no go. Anyone visiting these threads know of a workaround?
