|
|
I am evaluating the demo version of Jamstix 2.2.1 and I have 2 questions. I am a beginner so sorry if these are dumb issues.
1. I tried to add Jamstix to two different tracks in Reaper and reaper crashes every time. Am I not supposed to do that? Or is it a bug?
2. Is it possible to export each type of drum (snare, hihat, kick etc) to a different track in Reaper and how do I do that if it is possible? I understand that the Demo has limitations but I just want to get an idea on how to do this.
Thank you. |

It is bug that was fixed in the current 2.2.2 Beta for which there is no demo at this time. If you need to evaluate this I can send you a demo DLL of the latest version. Generally, you should not need to run multiple instances of Jamstix.

Click the menu icon in the kit window where you will find multi-output templates. You will also have to set up a multi-output routing in REAPER in the fx window. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for offering to send the dll of the new version for evaluation, that won't be necessary.

I have no problem doing this. I think I wasn't clear asking my question. After Jamstix creates the drum track for whatever type of session, if I want to export it to midi to a separate track in Reaper for further tweaking, I click and drag the part to Reaper. This way all 8 channels get exported to one single track. My question was, can I export each channel (midi) to a different track (kick to a track, snare to a different track etc or combinations) ? As an example of what I am trying to say is the reaper Project that comes with it, BradSucks Making Me Nervous. The drums tracks are separated bassdrum on one track, hihat on another etc.
Thanks again. |

Yes, you can specify separate MIDI channels for each sound in the kit editor of Jamstix in the 'CH' column. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Great, found them, thanks a lot Ralph. I guess it's not an option to test these with the Demo version since everything gets exported to the Kick.
I appreciate your quick help. |

Ralph:
Just to make sure I understand correctly. In the full version, if I specify separate MIDI channels for each sound in the kit editor, then drag and drop the created part into Reaper, I will have separate tracks for each assignment?
Thanks a lot and sorry to be such a pain. |

Splitting by MIDI channel is done by the host so it differs from host to host. In REAPER you will get a single MIDI track from the drag-&-drop by Jamstix even with split channels and you have to split it somehow. Many hosts have a filter function for that. You may want to inquire at the REAPER forum about the best way to do this. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
