Hi,

Jamstix seems to work well with Live with the following exceptions :-

1. If I launch Dr008 within Jamstix, DR008 makes no sound. It does not make any sound from the Jamstix rhythms and it does not make any sound if you click on it with the mouse. This is replicable.

2. Other Vsti's seem to work OK but occasionally switching between external Vsti and internal sounds causes Live to crash (Invalid Page fault I think). This is intermittent, not replicable.

Jamstix is great - not sure if I quite understand it yet but having lots of fun playing with it. The most interesting bit of software to come along since Live itself IMO Cool .

Phil

We will investigate this

We are doing some work in that area and hopefully it will help this problem

Thank you so much! We will continually improve the interface and keep raising the bar. Also, wait until you jam with Jamstix and JamBace together, it's a blast!

Which external VSTi did you experience these crashes with?

It was Plugsound vol 6 (Global collection) from USB -it has some drum kits on it that I was trying out. However, as I say, the problem was intermittent - sometimes it was fine.

I should also add that I am using Windows 98SE which I know you don't specifically support. Seems to work fine though !

If you only experience this problem with Plugsound 6, let us know and we'll put that plug onto the research list.

Philr, I just tried to replicate this but it works fine for me. Here's what I do:

- load Ableton Live 4.1 and a demo project
- insert a MIDI track
- drag Jamstix onto the MIDI track and it loads its internal samples
- click on Jamstix wrench icon to open Jamstix
- go to Mapping tab, click External Vsti
- select DR-008.dll and it opens
- click LOAD SETTINGS in DR-008 and load a kit
- close DR008 and go to jam tab in Jamstix and click Free Jam
- start Ableton and after a few beats Jamstix/DR-008 kicks in

Please duplicate this steps and tell me if it works

Thanks

OK, I found the problem - it was to do with the number of outputs that I had enabled in Dr-008. It was exceeding the number of outputs in Jamstix and, as you've already warned, this can cause problems. I reduced the number of outputs in Dr-008 and the problem of no sound coming from Dr-008 was cured.

So everything is now fine, right ? Unfortunately not. The main problem I now have is that once Dr-008 is loaded, after a while the Configure button ceases to function and I can no longer get to Dr-008. Sometimes the button just does nothing, sometimes it gives this message :-

Quote:
Access violation at address 05324326 in module 'JAMSTIX.DLL'. Read of address FFFFFFD0'

Can't find an exact procedure to replicate this at the moment I'm afraid. I tend to be trying lots of different stuff eg. flipping between internal and external sounds quite a bit and not being very systematic.

I fully intend to buy Jamstix at the earliest opportunity so none of this is exactly a dealbreaker but anything that would help make Dr-008 a bit more stable would be welcome.

I have a problem with the jamstix demo: when i insert it in a MIDI track, it begins to load all the stuff and then stops (usually when the "creating accents" message shows)... the CPU usage is 100% so i need to end dthe process...

Check your ASIO driver. For testing I'd recommend to use the ASIO4ALL driver, which is very stable (www.asio4all.com) and set it to about 560 samples and 3KS buffers.
