Hi,

I think I found a bug concerning time signature changes (either a bug of Jamstix or Reaper doing something wrong).

Here's the situation:

For the part 'bridge' a want to change time signature from 4/4 to 5/4. You can see that I added a time signature marker in Reaper at bar 93. So I would expect that Jamstix plays the part 'chorus2' in 4/4 and 'bridge' in 5/4.
BUT: At the end of 'chorus2' Jamstix switches back to part 'verse2' instead of playing the bridge part! You can see that in the picture. Reaper shows bar 94 whereas Jamstix plays bar 76! So Jamstix plays part 'verse2' (in 5/4 measure), then 'chorus2' and finally 'bridge'.

If I delete the time signature marker in Reaper everything works fine. Tempo changes are also handled correctly.

Did you enable time sig changes in the Jamstix 2 ' Options' and also specify the desired time sig for every part of the song sheet (click on length or reps to edit)?

No, I didn't. Sorry Smile
When I do so it works fine for 5/4.

But I just tried it with 7/8. The part set to 7/8 as well as the host. And then Jamstix does strange things again. I will sent you a small demo project (Reaper project file).

I've researched this and it is a REAPER problem. This is what happens in Sonar where it works fine:

<40.3> PPQ IS:31.9885108311971
<40.3> SIG CHANGE TO 7/8
<40.3> PPQ IS:32.0090701738993

As you can see the PPQ which is the song position in quarter notes sent by the host stays correct. But REAPER does this:

<7.1> PPQ IS:31.9473922902494
<7.1> SIG CHANGE TO 7/8
<7.1> PPQ IS:16.0120634920634

Because the time sig changed to a x/8 base, REAPER recalculates the song position incorrectly, basically halving it. It essentially treats the position as if it had been 7/8 from the beginning of the song, which it isn't.

I hope this is enough info for you to request a bug fix from Cockos.

Thanks Ralph, I'll put a bug report in the Cockos forums.
