Thanks. Once again, I'll look at it right after work.

This is bizarre.

Log File Create As: C:\Program Files(x86)\VstPlugIns\jamstix2\rzdlog.txt

... and no log file is present.

I checked and my effective permissions are wide open, full control.

This really is bizarre. The message means that the file was reported as successfully created by Windows. What OS version is this and are you using an admin account?

I'm using Vista x64 Ultimate.

The account I'm using is an administrator account. Just to be sure there's no problem with permissions I opened them completely up on the folder.

Now that I think about it I actually can't really be sure any packs were ever installed correctly. I've had it installed for a while but only used it sporadically. I might have just used it now because I wanted to use the Bonzopak.

The idea was to move to Vista x64 permanently so that I could use all 4GB of memory. This is the last hurdle - I sorted out all of my drivers and compatibility problems.

For now I'll just continue to use XP - it works fine.

My commendations on the Bonzopak - I gotta admit, the room sounds great.

Thanks for the effort.

I had a moment of clarity.

Running the installer elicited the usual request to "approve" the installer. So all of the files were properly installed.

I thought to myself, "Even though the permissions are open, perhaps Vista's onerous security is simply preventing the software, once running normally, from installing data files anywhere into c:\Programs or c:\Programs (x86)."

Perhaps Vista-aware 64-bit programs might know to ask the OS's permission before trying to write to those folders?

So I created C:\VST and installed it into there - and presto! Everything works fine.

Once again, thanks for the assistance. It's appreciated.

Hi, new Jamstix user here.

I'm getting the same message about needing to run the new installer again after going through the installation instructions provided on my download page. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but the message persists. But the program appear to be running just fine, as far as I can tell in these early stages.

I'm running Vista Home Premium with Cubase LE and Jamstix 2 is installed into the Steinberg Vstplugins folder in the Program Files main directory.

This is a bug where the first part of the XL Pak overwrites a file with an older version. This will be fixed today but you can fix this yourself right now by just running the 2.2.1 updater from your download page.

Thanks, Ralph. I'm going to do this on my music PC right now.

Should I still copy the 2.2.2 beta DLL file into my plugins folder after doing this or just run the installer and then leave things alone?

EDIT Just tried running the installer - still got the message. Tried using the beta 2.2.2 DLL, still got the message.

If you want to use the 2.2.2 Beta then copy it back after the intaller has run.

Whatever I do, the message appears (see above edit).

Anyway, just bought the BonzoPak - the demos sound so good, I've got to have that. Very Happy And I'm going to revert to XP on that machine anyway in the next day or so, so the problem should resolve itself at that stage.

I have just e-mailed you a file. Copy it to the '\data\sounds\ folder of your Jamstix2 folder, overwriting the current file. This should fix the message.

Thanks, file received - but I'm afraid it doesn't stop the message appearing.

Please send me the file rzdlog.txt from your Jamstix 2 folder for review.

There's no such file in that folder or any sub-folder.

This sounds like it might be something to do with Vista restricting access in the Programs folder, as mentioned above. If I uninstall and install to a folder outside of this, will Cubase find the Jamstix DLL?

EDIT Maybe I could install to say, C:\Jamstix (after creating it!) and then copy just the Jamstix2 DLL into C:\Programs\Steinberg\Vstplugins where Cubase looks for it?
