I am ready to but this program but I am wondering 2 things:
1. How difficult is this program?(I am computer literate and learn fast and am a guitar player looking to do his own drums) I heard Jamstix can be hard to learn but I really dont want EZ Drummer or Addictive or even BFD2. I play metal and am liking this Metal Pak offered here.
2. As far as a host,I am not familiar with this at all. Actually I know nothing about it.Lol.I do use Acousticas Mixcraft 4 which is a multitracker and sequencer which supports VST's so I am hoping I can use Jamstix in this? Is Jamstix only run thru a host or is also a stand alone program?
Any info is appreciated and will help influence my decision today on Jamstix. |

well I am also a computer literate guitar player, and I would say give a good 2-3 hours to jamstix and it will make sense to you.
Check out benvesco's blog - linked somewhere here in the forum and you will get up and running.
I use Cubase and don't know anything about Mixcraft - sorry.
While jamstix must be run though a host, you can use something like savihost to simulate a standalone app

| Thanks.I do need to know if it will be compatible with Mixcraft as a host or else it would defeat my purpose of buying it.Thanks again. |

Terry, thanks for the reply.I use Mixcraft alot,Its a very simple, easy recording program. It does just about anything that the others do.As a recording guitarist,I need drums for my side home recording projects apart from my band.I usually use Beta Monkeys drum loops which work out great but I would like to write my own drum tracks...I would be new at this though so I may ask alot of questions here.
I also have Sonar 7 Producers Edition which I just got but its really complicated(PDF IS 1586 pages!!). I know it will work in that but Mixcraft is simple and I know it inside and out.As I said I will be new at this "Host" set up so I will have to ask how to set up or open Jamstix in Mixcraft or Sonar.I think I am going to buy it now.Appreciate the info.Like I said I am sure I will be asking tons of questions here so be warned.....lol.. |

| I really want this for the Metal Pak as this is what I play.Is the Metal Pak really good? Does it also come with any pre-programmed drum patterns that I can either jam to or edit to write songs with?Or is everything from scratch, beat by beat?I usually using loops that I piece together in a sequencer and and save as an MP3.Then I record my guitar later.Being I will be new to Jamstix,is this how it works in a way? |

MetalPak comes with ten metal styles and six metal drummers. The way it works is that you set up the part(s) for your song (verse, chorus etc.) and select the desired style and drummer for each part. The style produces the groove and the drummer interprets it (feel, accents etc.). Each style and drummer has several control elements that let you alter groove and interpretation.
So there is no beat by beat editing required, even though you can do that, too. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well that sounds awesome as I really dont have the patience to program beat by beat nor do I have the time.So I think you sold me.I am ready to order them.
By the way,is most of the programming(If I am not using Metal Pack) like that, the way you said Metal Pack sets them up?
Oh and Metal Pack comes with 10 styles as you state so does it still leave you with lots of choices in those 10 styles or are you limited to just 10 patterns.....what I mean is are they variations in those styles or are they all the same patterns.Does that make sense? I am looking for metal variety basicall....double bass, breakdown beats, thrash style....blah blah....

Yes, the style/drummer A.I. concept is the foundation of Jamstix 2, even beyond MetalPak.
Please try the Jamstix 2 demo before placing your purchase so you can be sure that you like what it does, its workflow and that it works fine on your system/host. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm not familiar with Mixcraft but just follow the instructions on loading a VSTi in the Mixcraft docs. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi
as far as i remember jamstix will ask you where you want it installed I suggest you put it in the VST folder in Mixcraft
it then should come up when you click change instrument and then instruments in the box that appears
