Last weekend I made a song called Make me smile. It was an attempt to write a happy tune. I didn't post it here because I used Jamstix2 merely as a drummachine. However, after writing that one I wrote another song. Funny thing is I used the Animal drummer on a part of that one! Funny because I thought the Animal drummer was a gimmick and meant for funny stuff, but the new song, called After awakening, is one of my most melancholic and sad songs ever! So I was surprised to be able to use Animal in it and to get the exact result I was hoping for!
Anyway, since this songs uses the brain I though it was nice to post it here, along with the other:
Make me smile
After awakening
(This one sounds best with headphones, I think, otherwise you might miss little details.)[/url] |

Great job, especially the Awakening song. I'd be very interested in just how you put together the great drum track. I'd guess you turned down the sensitivity control in the Animal drummer to get sidestick, then snare hits?
cheers,

Thanks for listening and the compliments!
About the drumtrack: the complete song is handedited and uses no drummer or style at all APART from the very last part (where the drums get busy): I simply turned the basic track of that specific part (which was the same as the previous 'chorus', I think) into a er.... (how do you call it) pattern for Jamstix to use and selected Animal: this was what he did with the default pattern! I think I recomposed two bars (by clicking on the recompose button) because I didn't like them and that was it. Done.
If I'd used Animal on all parts, it never would have sounded this quite and peacefull, not even with sensitivity at -100. Animal really makes a mess of it all!
P.S. While I am at it: today I made another song (woke up with an idea and just made it!):
So close
It's made rather quick and need some additional mixing...
EDIT: The new and changed mix of So close is already online for a few days now. |

| I really liked the sync rythms on So Far Away. I liked how each time you came to it you changed instruments, first Bass, then Acoustic, Crunch Guitar. It kept my interest. Nice job. |

Thanks, guitarhacker (same as from the CW-forum?) and Thatsastrat! Glad I kept you interested. I just posted links to the other new songs (including this one, which is called So close btw ) here:
How about 8 new songs?
EDIT:
O, I only just noticed I already posted So close here too... well, never mind. |
