would be interesting if you could set the start point and end point for a core bar - this would allow for all time signatures - without having to redesign the interface to support more 16th notes.

Can you elaborate on that?

well, i havent thought it all through but...seeing as though time sigs are pure fiction anyways, just let js cycle in 4/4.

i set up a new part. there are 2 a loop point locators, one for begin and one for end. then i set those to how i like, then i select 'set loop points to core bar'

i could make a core bar 11/16, 23/16 or i could make it 5 bars long.

however the bar number indicators would not line up with the host - who cares - im doing an odd sig project in sonar, and i leave js in 4/4 and just program by hand, when i want to work on a spot, i click on the spot in sonar, and js follows, ok so the bar numbers arent the same, but it doesnt bother me

It is an elegant idea but the A.I. is interconnected with ticks and groove weighting, which in turn is connected to host-based song position. This would complicate things plus many users will be unhappy to have a disconnect between host and JS2 bar/beat display.

We're planning to extend the internal bar length from its current 26 16th notes to (probably) 48 in Jamstix 3 to solve this problem. This will then allow time sigs up to 12/4 and 24/8.

I was talking to a sales guy who sells your product at an online music store, and he said jamstix won't handle prog rock or jazz fusion style time sig changes (with changes that sometimes happen from bar to bar).

I agree with the poster above, that time sigs are less absolute than they are treated.

I'm sure you can think of a solution but it wouldn't be very useful played through Sonar. Just supporting a project like yours must be intimidating.

How do you find time to sleep?

Yeah it will, it's a pain though- you have to have a new part for every bar (you can of course copy and paste the bars).

We are working on a concept with a single time sig switch per part but this needs a lot more work so it won't show up in an update anytime soon.
