Ralph,
Yes, machine is an HP Pavillion (tried on three, a1219h, m7640n, and a1340n) with C drive internal. No USB card or no Norton (have AVG free antivirus but error is there with program disabled). All have the home media version of WinXP service pack 2. Both intel Pentium and AMD chips are there.
Bonzo Pak, Blues Shuffle, Dial-a-Metal, Electronic. Brushes, Jazz, Mallets, New, Thrash and Prog Metal, Rock (and all choices installed below Rock) cause the error.
Settings like Funk and Reggae donβt cause the error. This is a bit unpredictable since Blues Shuffle is now loading without error. Style selections from the brain menu are less likely to crash.
Noted in Reaper that after an initial crash, the error can be avoided by recording at or beyond the third measure. Any attempt to rerecord before the third bar will repeat the crash. I have a workaround for now by letting the error occur the first time then start recording from measure 3 with a couple bars metronome intro. Resetting after the first fault (actually repeats twice) clears the error from measure 3 on until the program is restarted.
Thanks for your help.

Ralph,
Tried opening the Brush quickstart, continued past the error, saved the song by overwriting the original and error is still there.

(edit) Afro-Cuban is one preset that opens on these systems without error. Complex world out here!

Another way to do it?

Use the lock icon in the Jamstix transport area to unlock it from Chainer. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ok. I overwrote the song and no error came when I loaded it.

Ralph, Willy,
Didn't have as good luck overwriting the files but did notice that if the quickstart song is recreated from the brain and saved to something else, that song will open even if it is the same.
Example is the Bonzo pak Jam Session. Quickstart defaults to Big & Fat kit, John, and the Take it Home sequences. Reconstruct the same items from the brain page, save as song xxx and then song xxx will open with the same parameters without error. Go back to the quickstart and load Bonzo and the error reappears.
Thanks,
John K |

Ralph,
Thank you for the followup via email for the no disk error fix. Everything is flowing smoothly. I only have a dim understanding of how big the responsibility is, but can imagine a new release sent out into an ocean of different operating environments and the followup needed when Jamstix 2 collides with obscure system X.
Not new to Jamstix, but slow to do more than the passive drum machine. This virtual drummer is definitely a generation apart from others on the market. Just now exploring the sublety of the brain function. Awesome program!!
Another plug for the Bonzo Pak. As great as the other paks are, Bonzo is a quantum leap. Turned up the decibels and the kick drum was fluttering my shirt. Major rock and roll.
Regards,
John K |

To all who experience the NO DISK error: we created a blind fix that worked fine for 'John K'. Please e-mail me so I can provide this fix to all who need it. If it proves to work across the board, we will then release it as a hotfix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I've been away for a couple of days.
Just quickly my answers:
1) Norton Security - NO
2) Computer - DELL
3) C: Drive YES (where Windows is installed)
4) External card reader via USB NO - but an internal Multicard-Reader
Thanks again for the support. |
