Hi!
Yep- Jamstix will now work in Pro Tools.
But before you jump up and down, it will ONLY work via the FXpansion VST2RTAS ver 2 wrapper.

Works with ver 7 of Pro Tools ONLY (LE, MP and HD), and only via version 2 (released today) of the VST2RTAS wrapper.

I have only used it on XP systems.

If anyone has questions about getting it going with PT7 via the VST2RTAS wrapper, pls feel free to ask! Preferrably, ask here on the forums, so that each question, and hopefully a resolution/explanation, can be here for all others to see, and possibly benefit from.

I will say this:
If Jamstix is moved from it's original install path for any reason, or if the path has been renamed for any reason: IT WILL NOT WRAP. You would have to use a VST host of some kind FIRST to re-assign the path, and then wrap. Or, change the registry (ONLY if you are completely knowledgeable of how to do so!!!)...or, reinstall Jamstix.

Next, if you have Rayzoon expansion paks for Jamstix: You will probably need to wait for the wrapper to scan, and then select Jamstix, and use the menu in the wrapper to "Rescan selected." The rescan allows a much longer scan time, which Jamstix with larger expansion paks requires.

I have not found a virtual MIDI patcher/cable thingy, like Hubi's or MIDIYoke that will work with Pro Tools 7. If someone does, please let us know- right now, I have not been able to get an EXTERNAL VSTi working with Jamstix.

Once scanned and wrapped, both AudioM8 and Jamstix will appear in the insert menus/lists in PT7. Jamstix will appear as an INstrument, and AudioM8 will appear in the "wrapped" catagory. A;ternatively/additionally, if you have Manufacturer enabled in the Insert menu lists, Rayzoon will show!!!

Jamstix DOES work with DFHS/C&V here for me...complete with all the outputs!!! However, it requires a few extra steps.
First, get Jamstix up and going in Pro Tools 7 with the wrapper to be sure the install is good. Enable extra outputs in Jamstix. I set it for 16.

Next, quit Pro Tools 7, and relaunch the VST2RTAS ver 2 configurator app. Remove the wrapped Jamstix (AudioM8 can stay). Select Jamstix, and "Rescan Selected." This will now wrap Jamstix with 16 outs enabled, and they WILL show in PT as viable Inputs for appropriate tracks.

I have not tried forcing DFHS/C&V to do mono only. Instead, I used a workaround: Stereo Instrument Track for Jamstix with DFHS/C&V, and then assign the putput of that track to a stereo buss that has two mono subpaths assigned. Create two mono Aux In tracks, and then assign the first side of that stereo buss to the input, and the second side to the second mono Aux In. Yes, sux...sort of. Irritating I guess. But, it works!!! Create Instrument/Aux Ins for the rest of the outputs from DFHS/Jamstix, and you are ready to go!!!

As I said- any other questions, pls feel free to ask!!!

(oh- only used Jamstix 1.43 and 1.5; no idea if previous versions of Jamstix will work porperly with this)

nikki Very Happy

(btw- I am not employed by Rayzoon, FXpansion, or Digidesign...just love the products they make, that allow me to compose/record/edit/mix to my heart's content!!!)

Thanks for posting, Nikki, and thanks for all your hard work testing Jamstix during the V2 wrapper beta program!

We do recommend having a simple host like the free SAVIHost or MiniHost to do the JS installation, any Pak installations and any path changes so PT is only used when JS is all set.

Hi.

I appreciate this is an old post, but i could do with some help getting jamstix up and running in pro tools.

Basically i am a pro tools user and have recently purchased jamstix, but am struggling to get it running.

I have downloaded and installed all installation files for jamstix, installed them in their own folder, i have run vst to rtas adapter and wrapped jamstix.dll......this is when i get stuck.

Jamstix does not yet show up in pro tools.....what else do i need to do? Do i need to move all the jamstix stuff into the digidesign plug-in folder etc? Do i have to do something special when pro tools is open to get it running?

Any help is appreciated....its driving me mad.

Cheers

stiller12, did you get your problem squared away? I'm running jamstix on pro tools with no probs. If you're still having trouble, which version of pro tools are you using (i'm using pro tools 7.1)?
