I've got a song that I've finally gotten around to configuring with certain drumkits. The drums are Kontakt format. So far the song has one more instance of Kontakt inserted as a regular plugin and has a guitar and a bass patch loaded.

When I load Jamstix regular, and use Jamstix kits, all is fine. But when I load my mapping and kit up, which has Jamstix subhosting Kontakt 3 to use these kits, all hell breaks lose. I start getting LOUD bursts of noise, like white noise, while playing back the song and playing another instrument. Jamstix is jamming in the background, and I'm playing the guitar patch(out of the K3 library) live. But after one or two notes I start getting the noise.

Before inserting Jamstix, everything was fine. When just inserting Jamstix without subhosting K3 and using stock JS kits, all is fine. But when subhosting K3 and playing these kits, it gets ugly.

Oh, and using Kontakt 3 regular and these particular kits, I have no issues. So I'm assuming it's JS related, but I could very well be wrong.

Any idea of how to pinpoint this?

I will do that later. Gotta run for now. But I'm wondering if it has something to do with CPU usage?

It's very odd because usually when I hit my CPU hard enough to make it act up, it just sputters and eventually stops the engine. No noises.

But I checked, and it's right where the drums come in. It's a very intensive project, and the drums coming in really makes the CPU jump and usually stop(until I froze a couple of things). Even when not playing another instance of Kontakt it would do it. So could it be a CPU issue when the CPU maxes out? I've never had it do this before so maybe it's still Jamstix.

I'll get you that file and we'll get to the bottom of it. It's entirely possible that it's my machine. But I have no idea.

Looking at the log I see a latent memory issue. Even with the JS2 sounds you are hitting as low as 35MB free out of 1047 MB. You are likely running into memory swapping issues when using Kontakt via the JS2 subhost that are not occurring with Kontakt loaded outside of JS2. The solution is to either use Kontakt outside of JS2 or add more RAM.

Hmm, that's odd. Are you saying that maybe the DFD isn't working inside of Jamstix though? I don't think it's maxing out in my meters, but then again I don't remember if I checked or not. This particular machine is in desperate need of an upgrade, which will happen later this year.

I've concluded that for now, I'm going to use the Jamstix stock kits for getting the song together. Then I'll load the mapping I need with no subhosted kit, and export the MIDI to an external Kontakt.

I'll have to check my meters closer. But I do know that with DFD on Kontakt, at least inside of Kontakt, it doesn't show as using that much. Now, after I add in the Chris Hein bass, THEN I'm using a lot of memory!

Thanks for looking into this. I really need to upgrade my desktop!
