|
|
Hello,
I'm trying to create a song 4/4, where there is an inserted 2/4 in the intro/brigde. In Cubase, I'm selecting the tempo track and redefine the bar signature of, in my example, bar 4.
What happens is, that Jamstix doesn't play anything in that bar. The counter jumps from bar 3 to 5 and then back to 4.
I've activated signature changes in the options page.
I'm using the current beta.
Any ideas?
Regards,

| Assuming you're using Jamstix 2, you have to make a new part in Jamstix with the new time signature starting on the bar where the time change occurs. |

So I have to make a part for 1 bar??
I think I'll have a problem with the limited number of parts I can create, then.
I've already had success with a signature change within a part, but it was created some weeks ago, and not with the beta. That project still plays fine.

| Hmm, in a few cases it might work (I think if the host time signature makes bars longer than Jamstix expects), but Jamstix won't count it right so the grooves will sound odd. Yes, you have to change the part just for one bar, if that's how long the new time signature lasts. Grab the latest beta, it gives you a maximum of 72 parts instead of just 18. As a prog metal enthusiast, I could wish for time changes within parts myself, but this may be a limitation of the VST format or something, Ralph would know about that. |

Yes, it is a VST spec limitation where the song position is in quarter note format only so Jamstix cannot calculate your bar/beat position if there were time signatures in the 'past' of the song. In Jamstix 1 we used a calculation based on remembered changes but it wasn't 100% because you had to play the song through once and again if you changed any time sig changes in the host.
The new system in JS2 requires setting the time sig per part but cannot handle time sig changes within a part. We're working on ways to overcome this but in the meantime you'll have to use multiple parts, unfortunately. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
