Hi Ralph

Could you please implement in some future update a switch for choosing between overall volume for whole song or selecting independent volume per song's part?

I really miss this feature.

Cheers

Alex

We'll chew on it but I strongly suggest a host envelope on the 'Power Level' automation parameter. If your host supports this it is easy and fast.

O.k thanks Ralph.

I will try to do that with a host envelope.

.. but I always prefer keeping such things inside the main instrument, coz I prefer having all those changes I made saved along with a J2 song. If anything goes wrong (or changing the host, trying different arrangement etc.. etc.. ) I just load a song and that's it.

Cheers

Unfortunately, you won't have that security with VST automation writes either. Writing VST automation means that you move a control in the plugin, it sends automation data to the host and the host records it. During playback the host sends it back to the plugin. If you change the host you will lose the automation since it is in the host project file.

A different way would be using MIDI automation by mapping MIDI controllers to the controls in JS2 you need (right-click control) and then drawing envelopes in the host or using hardware controls. This data can be saved to a MID file which can be used across hosts.

but I presume it should work if overall volume for a song-part is saved internally as a part of a song-part.

Currently, JS2 does not store volume data per part, which is why we recommend using host automation.
