Many THX!
That seems to be very interesting since freeware stuff not always is the badest stuff.
edit:
How can I load that "kit"?
I'ver read the readme.txt .... without result. With the "install pak" button it does not work, right? |

No, it doesn't work with "install pak". It's not an official JS pak.
In brief you have to install ShortCircuit 1 and get the wavs of NSkit7 free to make it work. The wavs I used (and the Short Circuit scm presets are based on) were extracted, using SFZed editor, from the latest NSkit7 free soundfont which have slightly different names than those provided as straight wavs in the NS forum.
All the required URLs are included in the readme file. If you need further assistance ask here or PM me.
Oh, and if this sounds like lots of work check how it sounds in my lame jam here and judge for yourself:

Thx zeoy!
Sounds really good!
Well, I do have all the stuf on my PC: SC1, the ns-kit7free files... both: in wav and in sf2.
And I do have jamstix 2
Do I have to select the SC.dll as a subhost? That's what i did ... but it did not work.
Is it possible to give a short kind of steps-to-do-list ?
Sorry, I'm a midi noob!

Ah, does that mean I have to extract the files once again via SFZed, right?
Where do I have to copy the both "j2k"-files to? |

I'd suggest first to try SC1 alone with my scm presets. Try the first one (not the multi-out). I would also extract the wavs from the sf2 just to be sure. Sorry I'm not in front of my DAW to give you more details now.
But if you have SC1 working with my presets then it must be just a matter of loading the kits (j2k files) in Jamstix and maybe pointing at the folder with the wavs when asked. |

Hi!
i could load your presets in SC1.
But can't get done loading the j2k.files. Where do I have to store them?
In JS2 there is no option to do so.... (loading that kits I mean). |

you have to put them in the "kits" subfolder of the JS2 data folder. they should be available then via the load button in the kit section |

So, I managed to find the kits in JS2.
But I did NOT manage to load the samples......?!? |

So, now the kits could be loaded.
But not the samples....
I suggest the path is not the right one. the scm files are indeed IN the folder where the wavs are as well.
But how should I extract the soundfont files with the SFZed? Just in order to make a new start.... |

Are your samples (for example these are the "kick closed" samples) named like this:
kick_cls_08-R.wav
kick_cls_11-R.wav
kick_cls_14-R.wav
kick_cls_17-R.wav
kick_cls_20-R.wav
kick_cls_23-R.wav
kick_cls_26-R.wav
kick_cls_28-R.wav
kick_cls_30-R.wav
kick_cls_32-R.wav
kick_cls_34-R.wav
kick_cls_36-R.wav
kick_cls_38-R.wav
kick_cls_40-R.wav
kick_cls_42-R.wav
kick_cls_44-R.wav
If not you could a) batch rename them b) do some smart "find and replace" in the scm's with a good text editor or better c) extract them again from the sf2 with SFZed
to extract wavs with SFZed: File->import soundfont->save as sfz (it'll ask you then if you want to save samples) |

Hey zeoy,
Thanks for putting this together. I was able to get it going
without too much difficulty. I also had the original WAV files
so I just downloaded the sf2 version and used SFZed to unpack
the samples.
The only thing left to work out is when started for the first time
I get a window prompting me for the location of the first
sample (kick_cls_08-r.wav). I put a folder shortcut in the shortcircuit
directory to the ns_kit7free location and I have the SCM files
in the ns_kit7free folder. I've also configured the path of the
ns_kit7free folder in shortcircuit but still get prompted for it
the first time I load ns_kit7/shortcircuit in JS2.
Sounds really nice, thanks again! |

Glad it works for you Sparky. Yeah, I couldn't get rid of that "show me where to look for the samples" stupid message either. No big hassle though. This freebie sounds very nice (esp. with some heavy low boost of the kick and some parallel compression)
Now where's my Bonzo pak ?
PS @MountainKing: everything fine now? |

@zeoy
Thanks for your interest.
Well, I did not try it out to the last ... what Sparky discribes is similar to my situation.
The window prompting up asking the file directory. When I then pointed to the files (my wav files nnot the newer extracted ones with SZFed) it didn't work. The windows promted up always.
So I think I have to extract the sf2 files again.

OK, save as ... but which directory should I prefer? |
