Hello all.

Im just a simple lad who has recently started to build up a little home studio. Its been good fun but challenging at times as my knowledge and technical know how is non existent.

Now, the reason im here is that i really wanna buy Jamstix but (and this could well be the dumbest question you have had this side of the atlantic) i use a new black 2 gig Mac book and it only says for PC?

If someone could shed any light I would be very gratefull.

Cheers

The Goat from Scotland

Hi, Goat, and welcome to the board.

Unfortunately, Jamstix is PC-only at this time. We are hoping to be able to provide a Mac version in the long term but it's not going to happen anytime soon.

if its a new mac book it could have an intel chip, if so you have the best of both worlds mac and pc, look in system properties at the cpu, if you are not sure.

just me 5 penneth worth thats all

So I bought a MacBook last week. I used BootCamp and created a 15 Gig partition and installed WinXP Pro. (Note... This was the smoothest WinXP install I have ever done).

From there I've installed Podium and my suite of VST's, transferred a number of projects I had been working on over to the Mac and I've turned off my PC (rebuilding it for my daughter). Jamstix works just fine.

Under Boot Camp it works just fine. When Parallel's allows you to run WinXP from the Boot Camp partition I will give that a whirl as well. That way I can run this stuff from OSX.

I just upgraded to Logic 8 Pro on my Mac and think it may be the best audio Recording software I have used yet!

Yes I have a PC to which Jamstix is on.

But I must say I am back almost full time on my Mac Again. Very Happy Crying or Very sad

parallel desktop is my solution for now,and I am happy with it.I don`t have to change the platform.I can record the output to the cubase on mac platform.I can even record the internal sound to cubase with my multichannel yamaha01x.I use savihost on parallel desktop to run the jamstix.

peace

Maybe a 3rd party company could help port this over, I know fxpansion offered a fair while back after I spoke to them/Skot, Gareth and Angus.

Can you offer any explanation why Ralph. After so many posts I thought you'd really want to jump at the idea?

Crying or Very sad

P.s. I have to admit that JS has been sitting idle on my slow PC having now upgraded to an Intel Mac (still kept the Powerbook too). I really want this! Please.

Jamstix is written in Delphi for which there is no (sufficient) Mac compiler. So this is not a question of a simple port but requires a complete rewrite of Jamstix in C++ for which we currently do not have the resources (people + time). The fact that Jamstix is a complex plugin and that hosts and VST on a Mac are quite different from the PC doesn't help either.
