Hi Ralph,
First, congratulation for that wonderful piece of software. I'm in building my first song with jamstix 2 and I have questions/comments/feature requests, maybe some of them are already there, anyway here they are:
1- Play Control. That one I'm not sure how it was intended to be use. My first idea was that it was bar base, then part base maybe, but it seem to be song base. I'm I missing something? Anyway to automate this? Or attach a specific value to a specific bar/parts? Make play control changes...
A drummer will never have the same intensity from begining to end of a song.
2- Core Bar. My only problem with the Core bar are editing convenience and speed, i will really like if the following could be possible:
A- Being able to do most of it using hotkeys. Right now you can hold Ctrl to copy instead of moving, but it will be really nice to be able to Delete by pressing another key. As well as changing it to Double/Shuffle/.... Also it could be cool too if by holding other keys you could affect velocity/timing/... Let say you hold V and then click down by moving the mouse up or down you increase or decrease the velocity. I just find the Core Bar editing slow and tedious and I'm sure that just having hot keys to do all the work could dramatically speed up things by not having to bring the UI up constantly.
B- Please put on option or hot key(again) to mute the audio preview. They can be useful, but at some point you know what the icons are and when going fast it just become a real cacophony at the point I'm turning my speaker down each time.
3- I have seen that comment before, but I will mention it anyway, i really like the custom metal style. It will be really cool to have it in other music style too.
4- I will really like to see in the future some sort of channel editor for parts where you could animate some parameter over time. I think the editing in jamstix could really go to another level with some sort channel editor key framable.
5- I will like to have some kind of one screen mixer view to be able to adjust Vol/Pan/Amb/... of everything at once. Don't take me wrong, I really like how you have done it now by breaking it down in categories when time comes to load alternate kit pieces instead of having to scroll up/down. But when it comes time to adjust Vol/Pan/Amb/... I find it slow to have to go from one screen to the other and back....
6- I will really like to be able to set bookmark in the midi pattern load up screen. My drum midi files tree is really big and browsing up and down is really slow.
Thanks. |

I don't understand. Please rephrase or elaborate. Please also note that the song power (and thus intensity of the drummer's performance) can be controlled over time using VST automation or a MIDI controller (right-click on the power knob to assign).

The main issue with keyboard shortcuts is that hosts interfere with it in different ways.

Go to 'Options' and uncheck 'Auto Audit Sounds'.

Most brain controls can be right-clicked and then assigned to a MIDI controller. You can then animate it via a MIDI controller envelope in the host.

We are working on an alternate edit screen for the upcoming hand percussion add-on and this may then find its way into future Jamstix updates.

That one is on the to-do list.
Thanks for the input! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for replying.
My first point was about the song power.
- How will you do the VST automation on it since it isn't an automation parameter showing up in Tracktion filter parameter list?
- Also could it not be an idea to add a possibility to save it with parts or bar like any other Brain parameters?
Since CTRL click works can we at least have another one for Delete like ALT click. This is what I'm missing the most.
Thanks for the Options Auto Audit Sounds tips.
Can't wait to see that Pecussion add on.
Thanks. |

Click the red A in the Tracktion track that JS2 ison and you will find 'Power Level' as an automatable parameter.

Has and is being considered for a future update.

The fastest way to delete a note is to drag an empty cell onto it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks.
I didn't realize Power level was Play control.
I didn't realize you could just copy an empty cell, that will just do it. |
