If you are interested in helping us beta-test the next update, please go to your personal download page and download this beta. Your feedback will help us refine the update and is highly appreciated!

Changes Since RC1

  • Jamstix now reports pitch names to the host (for drum editors/MIDI editors etc.)
  • updated audioM8 (V1.6) with improved multi-threading
  • modified memory management to combat certain crashes in MTS

Changes Since Beta 8

  • moving the DMP knob on a sound to max no longer causes div by zero issues
  • improved voice reduction logic
  • hihat pedal pressure via controller #4 is now included in MIDI drag-&-drop

Changes Since Beta 7

  • data folder locator now allows exiting the search
  • MIDI "drag-&-drop to host" operations now initiate only if the cursor leaves the Jamstix 2 interface area
  • MIDI import preview now stays synched to host if the host is running
  • added compression attack and release control options to the mixer
  • added BFD2 kit
  • various minor adjustments

Changes Since Beta 5

  • fixed notes generated by 'Learn' function sometimes not playing the first time through
  • added 'Velocity Scaling' to kit menu, which affects the way velocity layers are chosen and scaled.
  • fixed several dialogs still dragging under WINE emulation
  • MIDI remote control on the song power knob now uses a 127 range versus 117 (but minimum 10 is still enforced)
  • cymbal wash and other elements added via the tick menu now consider the auto locking event flag
  • limb control system now properly considers sound substitutions
  • improved behavior of certain complex fill constructs in shuffle mode
  • fixed a benign multi-threading issue with the status line updater under certain circumstances
  • added options to bar menu to load/save accents
  • modified 'John' model in anticipation of upcoming BonzoPak (feel settings, fill power profile, triplets)

Changes Since Beta 4

  • modified timing logic of bar editor LEARN function

Changes Since Beta 3

  • added 'Downmix' option to Mixer. If checked, all outputs are merged on output #1, effectively turning the outputs into buses.
  • fixed bug leading to crashes in Sonar when processing more than 250 MIDI events per buffer
  • added 'Add Tambourine Over Snare' option the Add submenu of the brain menu. This adds tambourine hits on all groove snare hits

Changes Since Beta 2

  • the maximum number of parts has been raised from 18 to 72 and new arrow buttons have been added to the song sheet to scroll through them
  • 'CORE BAR' display now shows bar number of corresponding core bar for non-core bars. The label can be clicked to jump to the core bar
  • when moving the mouse over bars in the timeline, the status line now shows the name of the corresponding part and the bar position within it
  • added 'Show Key Map' to kit menu, which outputs a tabbed text file with sound names, MIDI key and loaded sound

Changes Since Beta 1

  • fixed bad data when sending MIDI controller data to host that sometimes caused freezing in Sonar

Changes Since 2.1.4

  • added 'LEARN" button to bar editor, which allows live translation of drum data received at the MIDI input into bar editor events
  • 'Redirection' now allows filtering by limb
  • 'Add Groove Importer' now includes 'Priority' slider to control the merging of the imported groove with the underlying style
  • added new bar menu item 'Turn Groove Into A Style', which automates the steps normally needed to do this (saving bar, loading Import style, loading saved bar)
  • added "Add Classic Kick/Snare Controls" to the brain menu "Add" submenu, which allows the adding of the 'Jamstix Classic' kick and snare edit matrices to any style
  • added 'Options' menu to drum module mode with auto-bell (ride notes at full velocity are switched to ride bell) and auto-cymbal options (alternates Crash 1 notes among all available cymbals). These options are great for e-drum kits that have single-zone rides and a small number of cymbals pads.
  • CC4 data is now always sent to MIDI output
  • added 'Overall' slider on top of accent brain page to attenuate or boost accent generation across the board.
  • fixed MIDI import problems with certain files produced by Ableton Live
  • kit menu now offers options for small closed hihat openness fluctuations for better realism especially with high-end libraries
  • modified voice reduction logic so that it allows high polyphony per sound when the total number of distinct sounds is low (yields more realistic cymbal swells)
  • improved limb routing logic of the MIDI import function
  • fixed 8th Shuffle button not properly restoring visually when used on a per-part basis
  • fixed hihat double strokes knob of the fill generator defaulting to tom double strokes value
  • added new quickstart songs for working with groove import, Jamstix Classic and full manual mode
  • bars can now be pasted multiple times at once
  • you can now save multiple bars at once (marked by _B1,_B2 etc.). The Jamstix 2 mode of the groove importer auto-detects these and therefore allows multi-bar grooves style

What can I say? Some of us just want simplicity. Wink

Hi Ralph

I've tried "midi learn". It doesn't work so smooth as it should and I got some "real time" problems having a pretty good comp though.

I think this could work better if Jumstix can use disk streaming instead of loading kits into the ram. ( but I'm not a programmer, it is just my women's intuition Rolling Eyes Wink )

btw excellent improvements. Many thanks. Very Happy

Sad Hey, Ralph. Seems I'm getting a complete Sonar 7 freeze whenever I try to run 2.2 Beta 1. Tried it on an existing project, and a new one I started for testing puposes. Funny thing also, when I would insert a drum hit in a beat , the beat (the icon) would show, but it would be greyed out, and would not sound. I reverted back to 2.14, and am not having any problems.

Hello, Ralph. Sorry it took a while to get back to you. I have tried to open the existing project at least a dozen times, one time it opened, I hit 'play' , it played one beat and froze. All the rest of the times, the project won't open at all, it just hangs on a blank page, and if I try to close, I get the old 'program not responding' popup.
If I put 2.2 Beta 1 in a new project, any manually inserted events are at first greyed out, and won't sound. If I click on the preview button at this point, the greyed out hits are deleted, but if I then re-enter some hits, they are not greyed out, and they sound, but as I try to enter more hits for other instruments, like hats, the Jamstix interface goes white, the large transport bar in Sonar goes white, and everything locks up. If I try to close, once agin the old 'not responding' popup appears. If I put the 2.14 dll in the place of the 2.2B1 dll in my vst folder, everything works fine and normal. I f I can be any more help, let me know. Thanks for your efforts, Milt.

Are you using the right download link? The 2.2 Beta is not time-limited. If you still get this error please e-mail me the exact URL you are getting this on.

Milt.

This sounds a little bit like the bug I reported previously with JS2 and Sonar. The temporary work-around is to disable MIDI-out from within the JS 2 options. Since I don't need the MIDI out from JS2 it doesn't affect me, but if you need it then I don't know what else you can try. Maybe Ralph known more...

Very Happy THANK YOU, BITFLIPPER!! That did it! I never use the midi out either. Ralph told me to disable the midi out option, but I thought he was talking about the midi out option in the Sonar synth rack dialogue. Embarassed Thanks again!! Milt.

It's still a bug we need to fix.
