Do any of you n-trackers have songs available for streaming from the net, with jamsticks as the drummer?
What style of music are you using jamstix in? |

When using a midi file to do a midi based jam and also enabling the JS "midi out" option for recording the JS performance in midi, a midi feedback loop is created where the JS midi out is fed back into JS as the basis for the jam.
The steps/parms are:
1) Open a midi track with a melody file.
2) Open a VSTi instance of JS.
3) Assign the midi track to the VSTi track using midi channel 1.
4) Enable JS "output midi" assignned to channel 16 (and verify that the .ini doesn't over-ride this)
5) Click "play"
The velocity slider moves rapidly back and forth and the performance is very busy and random sounding. Going to JS "midi out" and disabling output makes it behave and sound normal.
Is this a JS problem or an n-Track problem?
This is with the last RC1.03

That's definitely a MIDI feedback loop. Sounds as if the MIDI track receives the MIDI-Out from Jamstix. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| So this is a problem with n-Track? If so I'll do a bug report with Flavio. |

I don't know enough about n-Track to identify this issue. If you tell Flavio your steps and that this scenario routes MIDI-Out from Jamstix back to its MIDI-In then he'll probably be able to tell us how to stop it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Just tried this again with JS x3-1 and n-Track 1828 and it works fine now. Timing sounds pretty tight too! |

My cover of Hotel California has Jamstix doing the drumming. Its all taken straight from a free jam, the only change i made was to add a ending.

I haven't really had the time to get into JS properly yet, although i'm hoping to have something for the competition on here.

The new X3-4 beta has much tighter timing and can handle high latency environments _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi All,
Just registered Jamstix two days ago (jumped on the $79 deal...Thanks, Ralph! ) I'm seeing consistent N-track/Jamstix lockups whenever I manually change individual sample mappings in Jamstix. To trigger the problem, basically all I have to do is go to the "Mapping" tab and select any sample in the drop-down "Sample" list, and if "No Sound" is all that is listed, I just select it again. N-track and Jamstix freeze apparently just before the selected sample has a chance to load.
I've tried N-track 4.05, 4.04, and 3.3, as well as Jamstix 1.2, X4-3, and an old 1.01c demo, and have seen the problem with all of them and in different combinations (but I haven't tried all combinations). I've already sent a report into Flavio about it, but I was just curious if anyone else has seen this problem or knows of any workarounds (other than using a different host, of course ). Thanks!

I just duplicated the problem. We're on it... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Is there a way to disable or accelerate the 'Direct-X Plugins' scanning in n-Track. It costs a lot fo time during testing.
Thanks! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

This should be fixed in X4-4. Could you test it?

Sorry I missed this earlier--there may be a way, but I'm not sure what that would be...I will look into this and post anything I find here.
IT WORKS! Double-amazing! Thanks again-again, Ralph!

| Can we get a new sticky thread with current relevant info? I'd love a nice concise tutorial on how to use Jamstix with N-Track. |
