1. I believe I had this problem before but when i save a song using Jamstix, certain elements of the song are not saved.
IE: Crashes, left foot limb hits.
I spent a good two hours yesterday perfecting a song adding these things and when i loaded the song today, nothing that i added yesterday was saved with the song. Very frustrating. I save multiple times during a project so i know for sure i saved.
I also do a save as .j2d just in case but the problem is i loaded the song this morning and made a minor change at the very beginning of the song which i corrected and saved right away as a .j2d (I don't use 'recall', i just overwrite the .j2d file).
When i continued to play the whole song, i realized nothing i worked on yesterday had been saved and i had already saved over the .j2d file so now i cannot recall anything i worked on yesterday.
SUre, had i used recall i could have loaded the j2d file and recall a certain point of the song (I assume recall points are saved within the j2d file) and if that is the case amen, but it's not the point. Jamstix should be saving properly and unfortunately it is doing otherwise.
Is anyone else having this issue??? Is it a Live 5.2 issue?
Live 5.2 XP SP1 ( i wonder if being on SP1 causes this???? May be time to upgrade).
2. Remind me once again why certain hits become silent within a bar.
For example, i have a typical snare beat going on the 2 and 4 within a bar and i have it stay that way for about 8 bars (verse). Occasionally, there will be silence on one of the snare hits within one of the bars (it's random).
I check the Accent and Fill sections to see if there's any overlapping hits but there is none (logically, considering i never set the bar to have a fill). I even select "forced hit" but to no avail. I amsure if i trash the bar and just copy another bar over it may solve the issue but i want to know WHY jamstix randomly silences parts.
3. If i am at a Core bar and hit the "BAR" button right above the trash can, i assume this to mean that only the selected bar will be affected regardless if it is a core bar or not. Am I correct with this assumption? The manual states that hitting this button will affect "only the highlighted bar otherwise it affects the whole part" but it doesn't state that a core bar is an exception. I ask because if i am at a core bar and hit that BAR button to make changes only to that core bar, other bars still become affected. |

Update on #1: Ok, this is very very strange, as I mentioned on issue number one, certain limbs were not saved with my song. Well, i am currently going back to adding these limbs all over again and now notice that on certain parts, they are now there.....
I have 3 parts (chorus) where i added some left foot hats and, as i mentioned, when i played the song earlier, none of the parts had any of these limbs saved. I was so frustrated i played back the song from the beginning to verify and lo and behold, nothing i added yesterday was saved.
So i immediately came here to make this post and then go back to the song and now notice when i playback that out of all 3 chorus parts, the first one now contains what i added yesterday (only the first chorus part, not the other two). Well, it;s better than nothing cause now i can just copy/paste parts and save me some work.
Very strange. DOes Jamstix need time for certain hits to load or????? |

1) My guess is that your manually placed notes are not locked and that subsequent actions trigger a recompose. When you load the song, the bars set for recomposition will do so and erase hand-placed non-locked notes. I recommend you use the revision system to save your work as you go so you have up to ten revisions at hand even across sessions. Reload them when needed via the song menu.
2) Hits are suppressed by the limb control system. If you find a specific action suspect, send me a saved song file or a FXB and tell me the BPM of the song and the notes/bar that are being skipped.
3) The BAR button only controls what happens when a recomposition is triggered (such as changing a brain slider). If it is checked only the current bar gets recomposed otherwise the whole part. If the current bar is a core bar it will still trigger recomposing of the child bars. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
