I want to have a rhythm of my own device (not a preset) play as the basic beat throughout a song. I want Jamstix to provide the human feel and the fills every 8 measures.

It seems that what I've been doing has only created ONE measure that either repeats monotonously or only represents one of 4 or 8 (the others are not the measures I wrote).

What am I doing wrong?

Oh, and another thing---when editing or creating a measure do I HAVE to insert 16 (for example) hi hat hits manually if that's what I want?

Create your desired base rhythm in the bar editor and save it. Now use the 'Import' style for your part, set it to JS2 Groove and select your saved groove. There is also a video covering this here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr591h-M9MQ

Yes, it's fairly easy with the drag copy function. Just put the hihat notes in the first quarter of the bar and edit velocities as desired. Now hold down the CTRL key and drag each note to its counterparts in the other quarters and you're done.
