Anyone got a mapping for this? I was bought EZdrummer and DFH by mum for xmas, and I basically blagged it a few weeks early! Trying to mess around with it now, wondering if someone had already done a mapping for it??

Very Happy

edit: decided I'd do it! See link in the next post.

Cool, I was actually just going to post the mapping I made. Ah well, I'll work on a mapping for EZX Latin Percussion and Vintage Rock, though VR has barely any difference in mapping from the standard kit..

OK its about time I start trying to figure this program out. I wont hijack this thread with some of my other issues with Jamstix... I will address those in a differnt thread. But why is this mapping needed??? I might be missing somthing real simple but if I load up jamstix then load up ezdrummer DFH it asks if I want to replace all the sounds I click OK and on I go...... what does this mapping do different?

Thanks

Because, while both Jamstix and Ezdrummer mostly follow the General MIDI drum mapping, some hits won't be sent on the same MIDI notes. Neither can be fully General MIDI compliant because GM percussion only allows for 2 crash cymbals, 1 splash, 1 china, doesn't allow for snare ruffs, etc. So both JS and EZD use notes for those hits that in GM are used for various different percussion pieces; for instance, both JS and EZD use midi note 40 (don't ask me what the actual note value of that is) for snare rimshot, but in GM note 40 is a drum-machine style snare; one of the rides in EZD DFH is 89, but in GM that's bongos or something. But here's the kicker: EZD and JS don't always use the same notes for those extra hits. So you have to map (i.e., re-route) the output note value from Jamstix for certain hits to a different note value to trigger the equivalent sound in EZD. And as EZD DFH has many more kit pieces than the core EZD, you can't just use the included Jamstix EZD mapping.

*whew* that was probably unnecessarily long-winded.
