|
|
| Is there any chance of adding 7/4 to the available time signatures? I use this sometimes, and while I have tried 7/8 at half time it doesn't sound right. Typically, the feel of 7/4 (to me at least) is alternating bars of 4/4 and 3/4 so it would possbly be some amalgamation of the existing information? |

Set the host to 7/8 and halve the BPM. Now use the song menu and click 'Groove Weights'->'Load' and then use the 'Double Time' file. This should yield much better results. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I tried it, but it didn't really work for me, ie. for a rock rhythm I want the basic beat to have snare on beats 2, 4, 6 and 7 whereas using 7/8 gives it on 3 and 6. The Mtown beats come closer, i.e. the ones that have the snare on all beats. |

Using 8th Rock, 7/8 and double speed weights will give you snares on 2,4 and 6. You can then hand-edit the kick on 7 in the core bar(s) to a snare as needed.
You can also hand-edit the desired kick/snare pattern and then save it to use as a import style. See the 'Create Your own Base Groove' video on our site for details. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

+1 for 7/4 support from my side. Its a quite common odd time signature, I guess.

Jamstix 2 can handle 5/4 already. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

My bad - sorry. I'll try that soon.
Great country waltz by the way - really made an older song I was working on... |

Why not just count a measure of 4/4 and then a measure of 3/4. Thats how drummers count it. 4s and 3s, or 2s and 3s if its 7/8.
1-2-3-4/1-2-3 or,
7/8 = 1-2-1-2-1-2-3 |

Compound time sigs are not feasible since each part in JS2 can only have one time sig. The root problem here are limitations of the VST interface. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

That does work, but when you only have 18 parts with which to work with, you can't feasibly do a whole song like this.
Also, putting in time signature information in your host can be a tedious process, especially when its changing every two bars or something. _________________ www.myspace.com/tacomanarrowsbridgedisaster |

In Samplitude I can map time signatures or beat markers ahead of time.
Would it be possible to have 4 'measures' in JS2 and simply set first and 3rd measures at 4/4 and 2nd and 4th at 3/4?

No, because each part in JS2 must have the same time sig. The only work-around I can think of is to use JS2 in liveloop mode and alternate via PC events from the host between two parts in JS2 (4/4+3/4). _________________ Ralph Zeuner
