New to the board here. I just installed Jamstix Demo to check it out. I am completely new at all this so excuse my ignorance. I use Cakewalk's Music Creator and am new to that also. I have figured out how to bring up Jamstix screens in the MC interface, but that is about it. How do I get the drums to even start playing? I was trying to look under alot of the newbie forums but apparently most people seem to get further than I have been able to. I have brought up the Help Pages and they did not help much either. Everything seems to be a step above where I am at. Any help would be great. I know when I get an answer to this I will feel pretty ignorant.

After giving up for the night and coming back to it fresh in the morning, I still can not figure this out. I checked out the demo video that the site offers and followed the loading of the drum styles and still have no luck. I just want to hear what this sounds like. Any help.

If you do not have another track with audio or midi in it already, you have to set one up (either audio or midi) and arm it to record (even if you aren't actually going to record anything), then run cakewalk with the record button in order to get jamstix to play.
Other than that make sure the jamstix tracks are routed to whatever sound device you are using, e.g. your soundcard. |

I don't know about music creator, but in Sonar under Options - Global, General tab, there is an option called "Stop At Project End" that, if unchecked, will allow you to play with blank tracks without recording.

The basic steps are:
- load JS2 in your host
- select a quickstart song
- get your host to play
I guess you're hung up on the last part. This is a common thing with Sonar-based products as they do not play when they think there is nothing to play. Arming a track and using 'record' is a common work-around. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Alright, thanks guys. I am on my way. Now to figure everything else out. I think the help pages will help me out from here. The sound quality through my system sounds pretty good. I'm sure it gets better outside of the demo. I cant really say alot because this is the first type of drum software I have played with. Almost need to check a few different one out side by side. EZ Drummer does not have a demo version, so they are out. I will play around with this a bit and see what happens.
