Hello,

I’m using Sonar and Jamstix 2.1.3 rc1. I loaded the Standard Kit. I made a one bar drum part in “Jam No-Input” mode. I dragged out the midi and put it into a midi track in Sonar.

I changed the mode in Jamstix from “Jam No-Input” to “Drum Module” Mode and played the midi track from Sonar using Jamstix as the audio source, but the part sounds different. The midi that was exported did not seem to correctly capture the part as it sounded in Jamstix before exporting. I’m not sure if it’s just that the “snare bounce” and “hi-hat” are missing or re-mapped, or what - but the bottom line is that it sounds noticeably different, even though I’m using the same kit.

Is there some type of limitation to the midi that Jamstix can export - something that the brain does internally when jamming, but that it can’t export as midi?

Or

Is this just some kind of “sound mapping” issue - something else I should be adjusting before exporting the midi or playing it back? I admit I haven’t read through the whole manual yet, (since the interface seems very intuitive to me.) I tried playing back the midi with “Map GM” un-checked – this brings back the “snare bounce” but the hi-hat is still missing.

Thanks a lot for the help – I’m just a hobbyist and I hope my description is understandable to those of you with more experience.

Make sure 'Map GM' is NOT checked next to the 'Drum Module Mode' selector.

Thanks for the response – I have tried both ways:
In Drum Module mode:
With Map GM “not on” the snare bounce sound is there, but the hi-hat and shaker are missing
With Map GM “on” the hi-hat and shaker are there, but the snare bounce is missing
