what about a new kit and let recording be done by steve albini? (he's not that expansive) If you do this you will multiply your sales.
cheers, drjee |

| I would love to see that. Nobody records drums better than Steve Albini in my opinion. You would definitely attract lots of indie rockers to jamstix if you offered something like that, yet I'm sure most others looking for an in-your-face yet natural drum sound would be more than pleased, too. That natural room sound that he gets on all of his recordings is what's missing from most drum samples. |

Great idea. I've shot an e-mail to his studio and will keep you posted if something develops. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

yes, but it says just recorded at the studio not by Albini. and if you now the signature sound of albini and compare that to the bdf deluxe demos you might not believe even that (judging from the demos: bfd sounds like shit if you ask me).
please, Ralf, let us now as soon as you git a reply from Albini if there is a chance that this is going to happen.
cheers, drjee |

I did get a reply from him this morning and at this point it seems unlikely to happen. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes, Ralph and Steve teaming up would be a match made in heaven. It's too bad he's not up for it. If you play around with the BFD Albini samples (i.e. mix and matching kits, I use his Vistalite toms with the Buddy Rich Snare and stock BFD Ludwig B Kick for a great straight ahead rock set) you can do OK.
However, I've had some mind blowing good luck lately using some JS2 jam-derived sequences mapped to the Joe Barressi Evil Drums kits in BFD. Now THAT is a kit worth having, and with the JS2 drummers wailing away it is an insane combination. Resource intensive, but really cool. My drummer friends are all in lust after the cymbals in that pack, they just decay right. The funny thing is, I still use my Jamboree pak drums on some tunes and they sound fantastic |
