|
|
having started to work with the program (jamstix 2xl v 2.1.0) and being relatively experienced sonar pe user (since v2 now on v6), i'm having some difficulty in understanding whether i should be able to have jamstix play in the 'no-input' mode and be able to record the midi notes generated by jamstix within sonar as they are being played.
i can get sound to come through but no midi is being recorded - or displayed, for that matter. i appear to have the right options selected but either i'm doing something wrong in jamstix or something is wrong in sonar but, for the life of me, i can't see what i'm missing.
anyone got some pointers or suggestions that will clarify things for me?
thanks! |

| Jamstix will send MIDI out to another synth. But to just record the MIDI you should just drag and drop the MIDI right out of Jamstix, as the MIDI recording is already stored within Jamstix. To drag and drop, drag the word "Song" from the Jamstix clipboard right into a Sonar6PE MIDI track. |

If you wish to record the Jamstix 2 MIDI output live with Sonar 6 then you must check the box 'Enable MIDI Output' in Sonar and select 'Jamstix' as the MIDI input of a MIDI track. Please also make sure that 'Enable MIDI Output' is checked in the JS2 Options. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

this answer doesn't seem to make sense to me. yes, as i said, i have the correct options selected in jamstix2. however, i do not see a clear way for sonar to see jamstix as 'midi input' as you state. the jamtix does not show up in sonar as a midi input, only as a source to route midi signals to.
am i missing something here? |

If 'Jamstix' does not show in the list of available MIDI inputs then that is the problem. Right-click in the Jamstix area of the Sonar synth rack and check 'Enable MIDI Output' and it will be listed. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| When I right click on the synth rack, the Enable MIDI Output is gray. Do you know why this would be? |

I'd post on the Sonar forum for help on that. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
