First, I hope this isn't an INCREDIBLY stupid request for the Forum 
For the first time in my life, I'm buying a PC built specifically for making music.  Cubase Studio 4 has actually been running smoothly for me, so I'm ready to take it to the next level. No internet connection (unless I have to!) and nothing Microsoft but XP Pro optimized for audio. Now, the REALLY important stuff.
I have all the files and mappings downloaded since I purchased JS in September of 2006. My VST folders are backed up onto an extrnal HD and I've taken the liberty of buring all JS-associated files (including all installer zips) to CD's.
Which files do I need to use specifically to get up and running in the latest version of JS 1.8x? I know I have to run the app installer (which version?), setup and data setup files. DO I need to get a new license from you, Ralph, in order to run JS on my new box, which will be the only PC it will be run on once I'm done with setup?
Need I do a progressive install and start with my first install, then update incrementally using the file dates to bring me to date as I have done on my present machine? Clearly, it's a no-brainer that I need to bring all the sample paks across, but I'm thinking of actually doung a fresh install rather than dragging from the HD backup of my VST folder. Given the amount of crap I'm having to put up with from the "dongle meisters" at other companies, what can you guys, the "good guys," offer to help me out here  |

It's very simple: just burn the whole Jamstix folder on your old machine to a CD and then copy it onto the new machine. The first time you run Jamstix, it will ask you for the location of the Jamstix folder since it can't find its registry entry and that's it. Also, make sure to place your license key file in the new Jamstix folder so JS can activate itself.

I did this, but JS is coming back with an Invalid Activation Key message. 
Also, how do I get BFD working with JS? Do I open it as a separate VST instrument slot, then map JS out to BFD? Total newbie on this! |

Do not manually put the data in. Make sure you copied the license key file so JS enters the reg data automatically.

Go to the mapping tab, click 'Load' and seletc a BFD mapping.

| Is this method still the way it should be done? I just bought a new PC myself, and I want to transfer every Jamstix1 & 2 related item with the most current Hotfix of JS2 over to my new PC. any other info would be appreciated too. thanks. |

| ok, i transferred everything I could find. I'm still missing some sounds though. i believe its drumpak#1. I cant find where I saved it. For some reason its not in the addon folder like the rest of the paks. Its loading them from somewhere though. Is there a way I can find the path where these sounds are saved? |

and another thing...
i actually didnt burn to a cd like you recommended. I set up a wireless network between the 2 computers. Then viewed the shared folder on my old computer from the new, and just double clicked the setup jamstix from there. seemed to work fine. jamstix is up and running properly, minus a couple missing sounds. I'm just letting you know in case you have any comments about it..

Sorry about that
The Paks install sounds and mappings. I recommend you copy all folders from the old machine to the new machine to get all those files copied. If you want to re-install DrumPak #1 fresh and need the download again, drop me an e-mail.

...but where can i find this "license key - file" ????... |

The license key file only applies to Jamstix 1. It's the file that was attached to your original Jamstix delivery.
For Jamstix 2 it is not a file but just a key you type or paste.
