|

The CC midi control behaviour in JS 2.0.19 RC5 has its quirks. It's such a pity because its such a powerful feature of JS for inspiring jam sessions!
I created 2 parts, with each part having 2 separate CCs assigned to 2 brain functions: Part 1 CC1 & CC2, Part 2 CC3 & CC4. (Previously I used the same 2 CCs per part)
Sometimes when switching between parts JS2 is not responding anymore to the CCs, or only one is working. In particular it looks like it is worse when one is controlling a groove function and the other an accent function. Sometimes when switching between groove and accent on the screen, and going back to groove, the CC is controlling another attribute then previously assigned. And more weird behaviour unfortunately.

I'll check that out. Could you tell me a specific mapping scenario? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I had it with any combination of 2 brain function per part assigned to 2 controllers, it seems not specific. |

I did a quick check on the CC controllers and liveloops with the latest release of Jamstix 2.0.19-RC8. There are still some issues when having liveloops enabled. When liveloops is disabled, everything appears to work correctly.
I assigned 4 CCs to 2 parts, in this case:
Jamstix 2 - MIDI Controller Assignments
[Controller 1]
P1: Snare Amount
[Controller 2]
P1: Kick Amount
[Controller 3]
P2: Snare Funkiness
[Controller 4]
P2: HiHat Mode
The controlled sliders of part 1 work correctly. The controlled sliders of part 2 are correctly assigned when having liveloops turned on, but after assignment they will not move during the jam. The odd thing is, as soon as I stop the host, they move again.
When liveloops is turned off, everything seems to work correctly.
Regards,
Lucky |

I can't duplicate this problem. Can you do a 'Save Song' of your scenario and send me the file? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I found another CC one, maybe related. Just with one part and without liveloop and while the host is not playing.
Load the style Calypso with silent drummer. Add Snare Ghosts via the brain menu. Go to the Accent panel and add a CC to Snare Ghosts power slider. The CC is correctly assigned and the slider works accordingly. But now go back to the groove panel and when you move the Snare Ghosts CC controller, the Groove Hands Power level suddenly starts to move.
It probably has nothing to do with this specific style.
r, Lucky
UPDATE: It appears to be related to any slider in the Accent tab. No need to add any snare ghosts. Just load a default style, in this case Calypso. The style comes with the Hits amount slider. Assign the CC to this slider and everything works accordingly. But go back to the groove tab and you will see that the shaker bias suddenly starts to move with the Hits amount slider. Maybe this also is the case for the fill tab? |

UPDATE 2: Yep, a similar issue is also with the fill sliders, but it seems not for all of them. Again load the style Calypso with silent drummer and just with one part and without liveloop and while the host is not playing.
Now go to the fill tab and assign a CC to the Kick Singles sliders. Everything works accordingly, but when you go back to the groove tab the Hand Complexity slider suddenly start to move.
UPDATE 3: I also noticed that when you assign the fill slider, and then first go to the accent tab, and then to the groove tab, the Feet power slider is moving, and not the Hand Complexity slider! |

Cool, can't wait to try this hyper control out properly! It is so powerfull, especially when using midi control over a combined midi imported groove plus a standard style and a drummer!
Any Jamstix 2 user should try out the trick shown in the video; combine your own midi groove with a standard groove plus a drummer model, then take out the sliders you don't need, and tweak the ones you like. So incredibly cool and creative! This is a must for anybody to try out, a major feature of Jamstix, way beyond anything out there I believe. |
