It is still really slow, but...
Not always, so I did some testing to see when its slow and when its not. It is only slow when loading an existing project that includes JS2. If I'm simply adding JS2 to an open project is loads fast. If I open a Sonar project with a JS2 synth I think it is the samples that load slowly. If I close out of Sonar, and reopen that same project, the samples load quickly. It seems that the samples only load slowly if it is the first time I'm loading that project after a boot.
I'm not sure this is really a JS2 issue, but if anyone else has encountered the same problem or has suggestions on how to fix I would appriciate it. Thanks |

+1
using 2.0.19 RC5
Takes about 90 rather than 15 secs into old 2.6 P4. 1.5gig mem.
Project in Cubase 4 Studio, setup as per ProfRhino's 8 channel tutorial 2.
Close PROJECT, then open again, still 90secs.
Close VSTi then open JS2 again, 10 secs.
Though if I open a TEMPLATE of ProfRhino's setup, it is 10 secs again.
Close CUBASE reopen, opening PROJECT takes 90secs.
Close CUBASE reopen, opening TEMPLATE now takes about 30secs.
Restart COMPUTER, Project opens quickly
This is clearly complicated by cache and I am not sure how the cache is working, but I am sure something is not right.
As with tdye, some of the samples seem to take 5 or 10 secs each to load.
Again, this is only an experimental project.
I get the impression that this only started happening after I had changed the project and saved it 3 or 5 times. I could be wrong though, I often am. |

Did you set the sound load priority to max in the "Options" screen? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes, I moved the slider all the way to the right. |

Do you have 'Cache' in the kit window active? I recommend you do not. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

No, the JS cache is not active. I have not fiddled with settings at all really.
I was referring to system cache.
By the way, the slow loading may be occurring since I froze and thawed.
The JS2 snowflake works fine, but the VSTi rack snowflake give a message: "Instrument is not connected, freeze is not possible."
I shall test:
Reboot
Build a JS2 project from scratch
Save and reload (time1)
Freeze
Save and reload (time2)
thaw and save and reload (time3) |

OK:
Time 1 30secs
Time 2 25secs
Time 2 25secs
So nothing there, so:
Restart C4S
Reload (time4)28
Reboot
Restart C4S
Reload
(Time 5)70
Deleted JS2 replaced with EmulatorX
Proteus composer Dynamic Grand
(C4S footprint 529MB instead of 580)
Save a little tune.
Close C4S and reboot
Start C4S
Reload project (Time 6)40 seconds.
So, there does seem to be a little problem loading on my machine. Nothing drastic, but not ideal.
Probably not near the top of your list, but I hope this is helpful.
NB the other vst on both projects was Virtual Guitarist2, with a 310MB preset. |

Not active.
My difference in load times is several minutes (first time after boot) compared with several seconds (second time or later) for the samples to load. |

tdye, what is your cpu, RAM capacity and virtual memory settings?
Perhaps more importantly, what is your HD and HD rotation speed?
Have you scanned and defragmented your HD recently?
A slowish drive and or fragmented kit files might explain this.
(Then again, I'm usually wrong).
I'm going to scan and defrag mine too.
night night. |
