I'm Stumped.. I have a song that has a defined tempo track. I load JS into the VSTi Rack. Keyword Jam and have selected and tried the patter I want. It plays and sounds fine.. Now, how do I record it? That's where I'm stumped.. I'd like to record the midi and the audio of this kit. I have one midi track with it's output as JS and another midi track with it's input as JS.. Monitor is enabled on both. and record is enabled on the second one. I hit record in the transport and I can hear JS but no midi events are being recorded.. I know it's something easy, but I can't figure it out.. HELP!! Yes, I am a new user.. Have been feeling my way slowly through JS and have reached the recording stage and have been stopped cold! LOL..
Please point me in the right direction! Thanks - Sid |

When you want to to record Jamstix´audio you have to create an audio track in C4 with input = Jamstix.
When you want to record JS´midi you have to have a midi track with input= Jamstix.
Be sure to have Midi Out enabled in Jamstix. |

Midi Out enabled in JS did the trick for the midi, Doc! Thanks MUCH!
Now for audio? I create an audio track but where do I assign JS as the input in VST Connections? That's not as important now though since I have the midi recording.. I can bounce that to audio via Export/Audio Mixdown. |

I still work in SX but AFAIK C4 also has the VST Rack.
At first Jamstix must be loaded in the VST rack. Afterwards in the track inspector there will be an input option with Jamstix. |

| Yep, JS is in the VST rack, and I have a new empty audio track. But in it's Inspector the only input routing options are what are set up via VST Connections.. Where I set up ins from, in this case, the Focusrite Saffire. I don't see where I can enable an input directly from a JS Output. Very likely, Doc, I know not what I am doing, so forgive me.. And thank you for helping! |

| This has never been answered? I just got Cubase LE and I can't figure it out either. I can record the MIDI, but not the audio, for some reason. |

I don't think this is possible with every version of Cubase. I have Cubase SL2 and a Focusrite Saffire LE, and with this version I don't think this can be done. With my version you can only export the audio stream coming from Jamstix, but you can't reroute it live as an audio input stream.
This is fine by me as I record all the midi data coming out of Jamstix, but I would love to have this feature for another plugin I use called Mobius, a free looping station. I am all ears if somebody knows how to enable this in Cubase SL2. |

Hello, it is possible to record audio from jamstix via the export function in cubase 4 (i think in other versions too). In the export dialog you can decide only to export jamtix out (the vsti out) instead of the masterbus out.

I forgot to say that you need to choose export with audio mixdown.
