Hi Ralph,

since this is coming up over and over, I thought, let's start a thread about this pack with global questions about this planned Pak. If you can't tell much at this point, no problem at all, but I'm sure I'd speak for everybody if you can fill us in now and then in here.

So on to the questions:

Arrow The Set
As engineer I'm of course interested in which kind of set you're planning to use, or at least which sound you're aiming for. Since the regular kit modules in JS1 and JS2 are mainly aimed at the usual "rock" and "jazz" scene, it'd definitely lacking some more kicks in different sizes and flavour (sound).

Personally I'd love to have like drums from 16" to 24", decent wood (from 50ies till now) and the ability to blend in the slap sound from the beater hitting the felt and the sub-sounds from outside the kick. Then again, I'm fairly sure that'd burst out of the possibilities of JS2 - and this is what other samplepacks are for after all. Then again, a bit more Slipknot or Nightwish typish wouldn't hurt. Wink

Arrow The Brains
I'm fairly sure you'll have some nice stuff planned for us, but I'm still curious on who're the drummers for the brains will be. It's nice to see that we have people like Phil and Steve, but they're still the "oldschool" rock people, some of them even from times of Deep Purple and general Jazz.

I know I might be asking for too much here, but I'll just simply copy it from the other thread and see if the general response is worth looking into it any further.

While I still can programm my own stuff, I'd still love to see some of those following mentioned drummers, maybe even all of them:
- Rob Bourdon (Linkin Park, maybe another tight session drummer)
- John Otto (Limp Bizkit, Hart hitting, hat driven)
- Lars (we all know who that is, likes to hit various things at once and play beats you wouldn't expect... facial expressions not included)
- Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen (Nightwish - a MUST for the gothic rock genre, lots of double bass and very straight drumming)
- Joey Jordison (Slipknot, IMO one of the best metal drummers among us along with Jukka)
- Yoshiki Hayashi (X-Japan, japanese Visual Rock Band, lots of double bass, tom riffs, very fast play - look for "Yoshiki Drumsolo" on YouTube)
- Masayuki Nakano (Boom Boom Satellites, especially check out their track "Spine")
- Mike Portnoy ("Dream Theater", got he can play - also at weird beat changes)

Of course there're more, but these are one of the harder-hitting players (hm... the drummer from the German bands "Peter Maffay" or "Pur"... why not... good session drummers)

Arrow Releasedate and Price
I guess these questions are more hard to answer indeed. But do you maybe know when the rough releasedate will be (good for planning for Xmas, as there'll be a LOT of groupbuys from other firms again)? And about which price we are talking? Furthermore, do we only get new drummers and kicks, or will we get even more hats, snares and toms additional to that?

Like I said, if you can't answer yet - cool with me. Just throwing around some ideas in here. Wink

+1 here... Smile

i'd add also some drummer for death and black metal... sorry but i don't know their name!

i imagine a drummer model which can handle a 180-190 bpm song and still being able to do "human" riff and fills and not to sound ridiculous or fake!

Cool
I would love the first 4 drummers on that list. Suits me a whole lot more than some 70s Prog-Rock drummer.
Although I must admit that I've got good results from Steve and James.

I can't say much as this is all still in progress and also pushed back a bit due to the Jamstix 2 hotfixing.

MetalPak features a complete 'Gretsch Renown Maple' kit with AAX and AA cymbals as well an additional Porkpie snare.

Price and availability are not finalized at this time.

We are also planning a 'BonzoPak' that will give you a more classic sound via a Ludwig Maple kit with 26" kick, Supraphonic snare and Paiste 2002 cymbals.

Hi Ralph,

a further feature request:
Powermetal and Speedmetal and so on live often from doublebase-action. I asked something like that before, but would it be possible to implement also visually to basedrums with different sounds?
And another very very special feature would be a programmable stereoknob for basedrums. Strange idea, I tell you whyand what I mean:

in the softer parts of a song, where only one-kick-action takes place or the focus ist on one basedrum, it`s of course in the middle of the panorama. But if you have maybe 16th with doublebase in 8 bars, let`s say the bridge, it would be great to have the kicks left and right in the panorama.
Ok with the Hostautomation it can be made too, but it is very hard to produce this automation events every 16th. So it would be a good idea, to have a knob for the doublebase set, that determines the mono-to-stereo wideness in every programmed JS2-Pattern. Hope that is not out of the programming world.
If you don`T understand my pidgeon-English, let me know, I am also native GErman, and I will tell it you in German

Jamstix 2 is single-drum/double pedal at this time. We'll put your request on the list, though...

honestly, i never heard about panning kik left and rigth in the panorama, even in metal.
i suppose you are speaking about very small panning..

i think it would be much more important to have a sort of "round robin"/cycles between different kik samples... if you play in 8th or 1th at high tempo, and you will have a single kik sample (or only 2,3 samples), you will for sure have an innatural machine gun effect...

MetalPak and Jamstix 2 have alternate hits to avoid the machine gun effect.

most time a light panning, but listen to Helloween for example, as I said not an extreme panning, maybe 10 and 2 o'clock
