Ok, ok, I can guess what you're going to say...
I have installed Reaper under Wine on my Linux box. Jamstix would never run (though other VSTs do). I tried Jamstix 2 and to my delight, it comes up! With a quickstart song, it actually works just fine, surprisingly enough.
The only real problem is with the odd movable windows in the JS2 plugin. I can't figure out what the advantage is of this anyway, since your client area is only slightly bigger than the window you want to move.
Anyway, under Linux, it behaves as if I am always dragging. I can't load kits, set the multi-out, use the mixer, select styles or drummers. Anything that's not quickstart, basically.
Is there any hope? A right-click drag instead? Non-moveable windows? |

I'll see about getting you an ini toggle switch. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

hmmm any answer on this? i am using wineasio with linux as well, would like to know if anything has been done about the window **bug.** ive managed to do a few things, but not much more than routing midi out. i just paid for js2 so im using windows right now when i need it.
***just wanted to denote this is NOT a real bug, but one that wine gives. Its more of an 'issue' in that sense. but if there is anything that can be done, let me know Ralph I am very well-versed in wineasio and would love to add JS2 to my wineasio DAW! JS2 is so great ive been booting into windows a lot more to learn it! |

The ini toggle switch has been added to Jamstix 2.1. Simply add this line to the jamstix2.ini file in the [General] section:
BlockMouseMove=1
Let me know if you encounter any other issues with JS2 under Wine. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I have applied the .ini toggle switch as stated here, but I still have the same issue as above, but only on the load kit screen (at least so far...).
Also, to BoxOfSnoo...how does it work under wine...for me is seems a bit laggy (at least the GUI is, I haven't tried in a project yet).

The GUI is a little laggy, but with Wine, who knows if there's some way to tune it. I never really noticed because I'm not that much in a hurry to configure. The playback is fine.
Yes the load kit window still has the drag bug, too, good catch. |

The next update will fix the remaining 'dragging' windows/dialogs. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I know you probably hear this all the time, but the level of support you provide is amazing!

| I just want to add that I was just able to get Jamstix working under OSX with Wine (using "CrossOver"). I have not tried the Wineasio driver yet, so latency is horrible, but I can hear it playing the correct sounds with good timing and the GUI seems to work. |

Well, scratch that. Jamstix1 works under OSX, but Jamstix2 I am still not working. Using cantabile as the host, which works with Jamstix1 completely...even low latency with wineasio. When I install jamstix2, cantabile hangs indefinitely while trying to first scan the jamstix2 plugin.
I will try another host too. |

Yep, I tried several different hosts, Jamstix2 won't load up with wine for me on OSX. Jamstix1 works great though. Jamstix2.0 froze while scanning the plugin, but I upgraded to 2.2.1 and now it crashes the host when I try to scan or first load that plugin. I am guessing that the problem must be related to the licensing procedure, but I'm not 100% sure. At one point I saw an Exception alert dialog, but I forgot to write it down. If it comes up again I will write it down.
Kind of a bummer as this is the one and only windows VST plugin that I borderline can't live without when I switch to OSX. But at least I can use Jamstix1. |

Is anyone else seeing this with Jamstix 2.2.1 or higher under Wine? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I just figured out how to turn on debug logging with Wine, so I will get you some more info in a sec, in case it may help figure out what is up. Might be Windows DLL I need or something like that. |
