When JS is loaded (the last RC1.03) and the "smooth input" slider is raised above hard low, the slider is rapidly jumping up and down. It does this whether playing or not and will only stop by sliding it back to hard low. I didn't see this in Samp, Tracktion, n-Track or Acid - only in Fruity 5.02.

AH HA! That is the same problem I am having...........

Thanks for pointing this out more clearly sekim, I couldn't get "on paper" correctly before.

Ralph, since you are so good at recognizing code/problems.........is it my imagination ....or does fl/sonar/acid and other "DX" programs just have too many funky problems to work well with vsts? It seems that I have the most compatibility problems, as well as crashes from these 3 programs.

On the other hand, tracktion, ext, and podium seem to work 99percent of the time with no problems...........

To confuse you more Laughing I am wondering if it's because some of those older programs are so "redone" that they need a complete overhaul, wheras your product, tracktion, ext etc...........are relativly new?

Well, it's a complex subject and you'll hear of different problems the more people you talk to. I really don't like to comment on other products out of respect for their developers.

Let me add that Sonar is still my poison of choice, though Smile

I can understand your reluctence.

If I could get sonar to "work" it would be my weapon of choice too. But it seems to have a mind of it's own.

I've been a Cakewalk guys since 1.0 back in the MS-DOS days so I've grown up with the CW paradigms and are very used to them. Which leads to the question: do I produce my music the way I do because Sonar let's me or because Cakewalk raised me that way Question Shocked

GOOD point Ralph! I also was a Cakewalk and then Sonar XL guy and suffered a lot... that was in the days when Cubase was in the 'vst' versions. At that time I really did NOT like cubase compared to sonar, even though sonar constantly gave me hassles.

When cubase went to SX, I had to have look and even though it had a few birthing problems, I pretty much never looked back. It was so nice to have native vsti's working with wrapping them... and so nice not to be setting up all of sonar's channels for dxi\audio... no more DirectiXer updates, etc.

There are a very few strong points that sonar has that I wish SX had, but not enough to make me use it anymore. One of it's very nice features is that ability to drag and drop insert fx from wherever to wherever else and also to rearrange them in any given chain of FX.... and the other great feature is how Sonar's drag and drop midi files works...

But that's it for my ways and needs... and I can work with how SX does both those things... not as nice as Sonar, but the tradeoff is ok with me.

I really have seen SX not have Sonars redraw issues when cpu load gets near the max and other cpu efficiency things that I much prefer.

Please, mind you I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything... just chatting cause you raised a great point. Smile

just to stay semi on topic... I've also owned Fruity Loops since it was first out and called that... now as FLS it's really become another amazingly different creature... a very powerful tool now.

Hey!

I'm having trouble saving JS settings in a FLStudio sessio. Here's the scenario:

I create the arrangement (which way it gets created doesn't matter), and then create FLStudio preset for the JS VSTI (this is done in the Fruity Wrapper that JS sits in). Then I save the .flp. When I reopen the FL project, I have to select the newly created preset to get the arrangement back. The velocity setting, though, is not saved, and I always have to reset it. So my questions are:

1. I creating the FL preset the right way to save JS settings in the FL environment?

2. Assuming #1 is correct, is there a way to retain the velocity setting?

Thanks!

Bill

Not sure about that 'create FLStudio preset for the JS VSTI (this is done in the Fruity Wrapper that JS sits in'. What is this step for? I only have the FL demo so I can't check saving but all you have to do is save the project to have the JS data retained and recalled later.

Maybe a FL5 user can be more specific on this.

We're working on that, this will be in an update soon.

I understand and am looking forward to #2!

As far as your answer to #1 goes, I've found that saving the FLStudio project does NOT seem to retain JS data, at least not enough to resemble where I left off. I found it necessary to explicitly create the preset that I mentioned above.

I am able to get Jamstix demo to play Battery via a MIDI channel internally in FLS 5.02.

However, the sounds from Battery2 are so soft they are barely noticable. I am not sure if that is me or not. When I preview the sounds in Battery2 by clicking on the pads inside Battery the sound level is normal.

Am I doing something wrong perhaps...?

Regards,
Kovacs

Check that the velocity slider in Jamstix (bottom part of GUI) is all the way up.

It is. But I closed FLS and reloaded everything. This time I loaded Battery2 first, and then Jamstix. Now I just hit the space bar and it played instantly.

Wow...this is some piece of software! Shocked Now if it will only work in Live...

For some off reason, the JamStix start/stop key is offset two octives lower than the start/stop key setting in JamStix.

E.G.

JamStix Start/Stop Key: C4
Responsive Start/Stop Key: C2

Why is that?

My Jam Setting is Free Jam.
