You mention a little something about these guys in the manual. something about the beat being composed similar to the bigger red dots, yada, yada.

Only thing I know is that if there is a red dot under a beat, then the hits are bold and clearly visible.....if there is no red dot, then the hits are faded out. and again, i dont know what it means...please clarify. I need a jamstix for dummies book. Embarassed thanks people.

A red dot signals that the beat has been composed. Faded out hits (on beats without red dots) signal that something was composed earlier but is now due for recomposition when playing reaches those beats.

The idea is to have all the beats composed, and not faded out right?

I can still hear the hits on the faded out beats when it plays, but your saying that I need to hit the COMP button for those anyway?

No, it's automatic. Just watch the bar as JS2 plays. You will see how the faded out hits are replaced by solid hits and the red dots are added. This is the brain composing while playing.
