|
|
i'm having trouble setting up jamstix to where each drum sound is routed to a different track. I asked questions on the Reaper site, but they always give short and non-detailed advice that I can not follow. So I'm asking your help now Ralph, b/c your the best when it comes to getting things done....
I noticed that, in jamstix, on the kit view, i hit the set output routing to 8. then, all I hear is the kick drum. nothing else. when I re-load the kit, all the sounds come back.
I know we've been thru this before, but JS2 is a different beast, and not to mention, Reaper just went up to Version 2 as well, so thats a little different too...... |

1. Right click in the Right-Hand corner of the FX window.
2.Select Build multichannel routing. That will create all your JS2 mixer channels in Reaper.
3.Right -click on a kit piece in JS2 .Out to the right you will have to choose your output for each piece under where it says "Out".Set to the channel of your choosing.
By the way if you are using Battery 3,etc in the Sub-Host you will have to set the output in that plugin.
Hope this helps..

| ok, i've gotten this far. i set the output routing in jamstix to 8. and i went to the options menu and did the multichannel build command which made my JS2 out tracks and the routing looks like its correct. but i'm not hearing any sounds! is there anything else i have to do? i hit play in reaper, and i can see that jamstix is playing, but no sound. |

scottieboy: you need to tell REAPER where to send the additional outputs with the OUTS menu right above the Jamstix 2 GUI within REAPER.
Stevie326: I am assuming the multichannel routing function is a shortcut to manually aligning outputs via the OUTS menu. I can't seem to find it, though. Can you elaborate some more? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

ok, i'll have another look when i get home from work......
i believe the 'build multichannel' command is in the JS2 GUI. at the top, there should be a 'options' menu pulldown.....pull that down to find the build multichannel command.
hope that helps you find it. |

Ralph and Scottieboy,
In the upper left hand side of the plugin window if you right click a context menu with build multichannel is there. It builds it according to how many channels you have selected in JS2. All you have to do is set the output in JS2.

Ok, I recorded a screen session to get it working. Grab it here (it's a 5MB XviD):
http://jonandtina.net/static/temp/JS+Reaper.avi
It's fairly quick moving, and I did a few mis-clicks in there. It should work the same way, hopefully.
Let us know if the same steps don't work for you. |

It's great that you got it working, but you should really try and figure out where you were going wrong...that is the key to learning so you can figure things out.
1. Download template
2. Install into reaper template folder
3. Create new track from template
4. Jam
Which step failed and why?
Cheers,

someone at the Reaper site mentioned that I had Jamstix inserted on a folder track. So I'm guessing that was reason. I'm no longer using a folder track, and its working. thats the only thing I can see that was different. the folder tracks in reaper confuse me anyway. |
