Hi,
I am trying to duplicate the feel of the drums on "Hey Joe", Hendrix version. There are lots of triplets in the fills, not so much in the groove. I have the groove down the way I want, by manually getting the notes in the bars of the pattern, and locking them. The repeating patterns (4 of them) don't seem to replicate the shuffle feel, especially the last 2 bars of the groove. I have tried various tempos, key signatures, etc. My latest is set at 8/8, 130bpm. I have the 8th and 16th triplet button selected, shuffle slider all the way right (set for the whole song), and the fill "shuffle" slider all the way to the right. I have the part set for 8 bars, and to fill after each part. It does fill, but they don't seem to be triplets. There was one time where it got close. I am ending up telling it to regenerate all the bars, but it never seems to do what I want.
The style is set to "blues shuffle" (also tried 6/8 blues), and I tried a couple drummers, one being John, my latest try being "silent". It seems like I did this kind of a feel in jamstix1 and didn't have much problem getting the triplets right away. Is this a bug? Do my settings sound correct for what I am attempting?

After setting the part back to 1 repitition, and back to 4, when it re-added the bars they seem to shuffle better now, and there are quite a few triplets during the fills. So it seems like when updating the shuffle slider, and 8th/16th buttons with bars already added, those changes didn't get reflected on the bars already added, even though but "song" button was selected when doing the change.
Anyway all is better for now. |
