|
|
Hi --
I've been experimenting with Midi import into JS2 - I have a quite a few loops which are multiple bars long, in JS1 import worked fine and created multiple rhythms.
JS2 seems to uniformly reject all of them as not being in '4/4 time' (or whatever).
With JS1 i noticed that quite often a 4 bar phrase (in midi) would get imported as 4 patterns plus 1 empty pattern, i'm wondering if this is a bug left around and JS2 is a little more stringent in how it rejects things. |

Is midi import working at all for 2.0.11?
I'm trying to import some midi drum grooves I have.
They showed before in the directory selection screen when I tried this when JS2 was just released but now none of the files show at all for me to select?
It won't see to see any midi files at all for me to preview/select for import!
Any clues welcome!

Ok, I think I've narrowed it down now.
I have a custom song I created with a JS1 groove. I wanted to modify it so I changed the import from js1 rhythm to midi import but it won't allow me to see any midi files.
However, if I open a new quickstart song [any one], change style to import, and then select midi I can now see the midi files listed.
So the problem seems to be you can't change existing song grooves once created.
Not a showstopper, but perhaps a workflow issue.

Hi Ralph --
Did you get my email with the four patterns?
A couple of other odd things I note:
The failure message btw is:
"Midi Import error: 'Control ch$9 $5A(unknown) 0' is not a valid integer value [ Control ch$9 $5A(unknown) 0 ]"
I get 5 bars from any of those 4 bar phrases (with the latest hotfix). If i delete the last bar, all the bars are shifted to the left and the first one is removed.
If I play it, then the 5th bar - presumably part of the 'repeat' is played silently, and then bar 6 is created (presumably from bar 1 - as it should be).
The display is strange - as it plays, some of the bars appear to get 'cleared' after they are played - though scrolling back they seem to have content.
Oh - and with the latest hotfix and Tracktion2 - i don't get sounds for all the drums. |

Very interested in that. Can you give specifics on what drums and what the sound names for it are in the kit editor? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

An example is the "Jamstix 2 - Funk 69 (XL)" - the tom samples are:
Tom 8" JS2 Studio-X
Tom 10" JS2 Studio-X
etc.
I think there is something else going on here - as track in tracktion thinks that there is something coming out of the plugin - but nothing comes out of the main bus.
Note that the plugin is 'working' - the bass drum in this kit works fine. |

That kit is a multi output kit. You must ensure that Tracktion services all output to hear all the sounds. In some hosts this is trivial, I'm not sure about Tracktion. You may have to wrap it in a rack. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
