Hey Traktion guys, i have a question, any of you used Acid P6 and Traktion (seperately) ? I am asking because, i am getting tired of Acids complexity (non-intuitive) , instability, and it seems to struggle with Op's like VST FX and VSTi's , even with superfast PC's.
i mostly use HOST ONLY for Jamstix, B4, etc... , not midi composing, etc...
Traktion is supposed to be simple and intuitive and what i need is Simple, Intuitive AND STABLE with VST Fx and VSTi's - does Traktion deliver this better than Acid?
Or if too low end, i am willing to get a moderatly priced DAW, i dont think i want Pro Tools level though ($).... I had Samplitude a few years back (before VSTi's) and Loved it, but then opted for a cheaper DAW (ACID)...hmmmmmm
I really need a DAW that does the above and has minimum PC red tape (tons of settings to tweak) so i can JUST RECORD.
Thanks ahead of time ! |

It depends what you want to do. I use tracktion - but i'm primarily doing audio recording - with rhythm provided semi-automatically with Jamstix.
I presume from your use of Acid that you might be after something that is more useful for use with electronic music. Tracktion whilst good and with a very good GUI is not really designed around making cut-n-paste style looping operations as easy as it is in Acid.
Oh - currently JS2 isn't stable in tracktion |

Thanks Chris...
...i'm not really doing electronica per say, i guess the following is what i'm trying to do:
-i used to have ALOT of Hardware instruments (Keys, drum, etc) and now alot of it is in VSTi form, so i either REC the Vsti parts (midi) and convert to Wav OR REC to External Multitrack.
...this means , i am more oriented toward REC and getting it done , as opposed LOTS of Midi tweaking, or quantizing, loops, etc.
....so i just want a STABLE, simple VSTi/VST Fx host and Audio REC DAW, thats it.
....minimum bells - whistles, Maximum stability, power and brings home the bacon.
what i have found with the DAW's ive tried over the years is most have TONS of features, and most of them dont work well (unstable, limited, etc..) and/or require BIG learning curves which are irritating, because by the time you learn it, its obsolete and your forced into a new DAW, on and on.
The one's ive tried:
-Sonar (too complicated)
-Ableton (")
-Cool Edit/Adobe (slow/unstable)
-Samplitude (Loved it but this was years ago before VSTi's)
-Cubase (hated it)
hope this helps.
Anyone got any suggestions? |

Have a look at REAPER. Great host, superb support and an unbeatable price. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Try Tracktion3. You mention Midi and looping - you might want to make sure that the facilities offered by Tracktion3 in these areas are sufficient to your needs - as historically these have been the weakest bits of Tracktion. Having said that - Tracktion makes it very easy to do everything else you mention. |

No, no ....... only need midi inso far as to REC a vsti, i dont really need midi elaboration (programing, etc)
I only need looping minimally too.
My focus is on Analog and Virt Analog, not Electronic music per se:
-as in Old School (but in a DAW as opposed to 16 trk TAPE) REC AUDIO and VSTi as its midi track and converting that quickly to a Wav.
Ralph suggested one above that seems interesting. |
