|
|
Just wondering what happens if a kit part is missing. Reading the manual it sounds like JS2 uses a big kit with 5 toms, and some of the fills typically end on tom 5 etc.
Now, what if I use a drumkit without tom 5? Say 2 toms and 1 floor tom only. That could be the case with DFHS Custom and Vintage kits.
If I set up one of these kits in JS2 with 2 toms missing, what will happen?
An alternative would be to redirect, but that could give funny results if JS circles through all toms from 1 to 5 when there are only 3 in reality. An other alternative would be to substitute with toms from another kit (e.g. Sonor), but that too could give strange results when the toms are not matched.
So ideally JS2 should adjust its drumming to the kitparts actually present. But I guess that would be hard work to implement? |

Jamstix 2 expects at a minimum Tom 1 and Tom 5 to be loaded.
If Tom 2 is missing, Tom 1 will be used.
If Tom 3 is missing, Tom 1 will be used.
If Tom 4 is missing, Tom 5 will be used.
There are also cymbal substitutions of this kind. You can see them by going to the visual kit and clicking on sounds. If they are not present, you will see the redirected sound light up. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

That's fine. Yet I didn't find "missing" as an option when setting up a drumkit, only "no sound" which I guess is not completely the same.
I will try to figure it out. Some day with more time at hand, the information about redirections should be written in an appendix to the manual along with other kinds of technical stuff. |

Just use 'No Sound' to identify that a sound is not present. As far as I can tell that is the same as 'missing' unless I'm missing your logic here. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You are right, but here is another problem. When using "midi only" no notes are sent to DFHS when playing the pictured drumkit in JS2. This makes it difficult to set up a drumkit properly.
When subhosting DFHS in JS2 I cannot play the pictured drums without DFHS disappearing. Would be nice if both could be visible so that you can play the visual drums in JS2 and watch the response in DFHS. |
