|
|
Hi,
I am still trying to learn the new JS2 workflow and just played a bit with jamstix2 in Sonar 6. I think I've found a small bug:
Double clicking on a song in the Quickstart window causes Sonar 6 to silently terminate. Can of course be easily worked around by using the load button.
The behaviour is 100% reproducable on my sytem.
Other than that JS2 looks very promising. Keep up the good work

Which version of Jamstix 2 is that? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It was in 2.0.7 (see thread title).
I'll see if it's still happening in 2.0.8
edit: Just tried it in 2.0.8, the first time it worked ok, but then going back to the quickstart window and doubleclicking on an entry still made Sonar terminate. Anyway, as there's an easy workaround it's not a big deal.
Have a nice weekend.

Can't duplicate it at all. Does anyone else see this behavior? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Sonar 6 user here. I tried to duplicate this several times myself, but could not replicate it either. I'll let you know if it happens. |

Hm, sorry to hear that, I have to say that it seems to happen less often with 2.0.8. Yesterday, when I was still using 2.0.7, it happened every time.
Maybe it has sth. to do with my configuration, so I'll try to give a more detailed report:
OS: Win2k
Host: Sonar 6.21
I create a new empty song and insert Jamstix via the synth rack. I've noticed that it seems to make a difference if I use create the midi source track option or not and if I enable Midi out in the synth rack dialog as well.
Without Midi out enabled and a Midi source track created, I didn't manage to get it to terminate, but get an error message instead after loading a different Quickstart song a couple of times:
This error message pops up a couple of times afterwards, but Sonar doesn't crash. I've looked at the rdzlog files created and while I couldn't see anything error related when Sonar crashed, it seems that this time it does include some info, so I'll send it to your support email. Maybe that will help, figuring out what is going on. |

I usually load Jamstix without Midi out enabled and without a Midi source track created. The only box I have checked is the First Synth Audio Output box (and the ask this every time too).
I tried with midi out enabled and with a midi source track auto created, but still could not get a crash or an error message. But, my OS is XP Home SP2.
Hopefully the rdzlog you sent in will help Ralph (the man who never sleeps) figure it out. He provides amazing customer support, and an amazing drum brain! |

Let me know if 2.0.9 still does that for you. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well, I could initially reproduce it with 2.0.9, but then another idea came to my mind. I hadn't installed the JS2 std kit via the install pak option, since I'll be mostly using JS2 to drive DFHS, just like I did with Jamstix1. So I installed the pak and now I can't reproduce the behaviour anymore. Maybe Jamstix tried to access some sample data that wasn't available and that caused the crash?
Anyway, looks like it was caused by an improper installation on my part, so sorry for wasting your time and case closed I'd say.
Thanks for your outstanding support!
cheers

Very interesting. That may help us find the cause. Naturally, JS2 shouldn't terminate abnormally just because the sounds are missing. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
