I'd like to be able to recreate a very simple setup that I had in JS1...
I set up a very simple 4/4 pattern with bass drum on the first beat and hi-hats playing 16 to the bar, ideally with an accent on the note. JS was set to play a fill every 4 bars.....
Having consulted the JS2 manual, I've loaded JS2 into Tracktion 2, cancelled past the Quickstart songs, changed the Mode to Jam-NoInput, then gone to the kit screen and loaded a JS1 kit. Back at the main screen I see a default part has been created initially set to 30 repetitions of 4 bars. I change this to 30 reps of 1 bar. With Bar 1 selected I enter some beats and lock the bar. I then hit play in my sequencer.
The first bar plays, but does not repeat. Also I don't know how to introduce a fill.
I know it's me that's the problem , not JS2, so any help appreciated.

That's because there is no style or drummer when you cancel quickstart. Please click in the song sheet on the part under 'Style' and select 'Silent' and click under Drummer to select 'James Stix'.
Now go to the bar editor menu and check "locking"->"Lock Manually Created Events" and start setting your groove in the core bar.
We'll try to make this more intuitive in future updates. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph! I think I'm starting to get it now.
So presumably if I want a fill every 4 bars, I create a 4 bar pattern and select Repetition Fill?
So far so good.

That's right. For fills that don't follow repetition or transition, you can also go to a bar , access the FILL brain page and click COMP to manually create a fill. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
