Hello all, kudos, Ralph. Got a question. I'm trying to put a 5/4 bar in a song, got my Sonar host time sig. changed, no problem there, but I can't get Jamstix to show me the 5th beat in the bar unless the host is running, but then I can't put the hits where I want them. In other words the 5th beat is only visible for a moment. Tried using the loop bar button on the bar editor, but it doesn't show the 5th beat. Any way to show the 5th beat while the bar is opened in the editor? Thanks!!

To go beyond that problem, which I seem to have as well, I checked out doing that (Sonar as well, v5). And where you are supposed to be able to input the time signature (where you type in the part length and reps) is greyed out and nothing happens when clicked.

If the time signature is greyed out then you'll need to first go to the options menu and turn on "allow time sig changes".

Ahh, thanx, I looked in there but at my resolution, and all that small type so crammed together..... I missed it.

And that did fix the other problem as well, but only after composing, saving, closing Sonar and re-opening it. then the 5th beat became editable, but strangely, no "5" showed at the top labels.

spoke too soon, on further playing around, I find that the ability to edit that 5th beat comes and goes, more or less on its own.

But pretty much always if I open up the project, go straight to the 5:4 bar, after a hesitation the 5th beat ungreys itself out and allows edits, sometimes with the 5 above sometimes without. However, if I go ta any 4:4 bar and return, forget it, it will almost always remain with the 5th beat greyed out.

I can see the 5th beat as long as Sonar is running in that bar, but when I stop Sonar to try and do the edit, the 5th beat is greyed out and I can do nothing. Got to be something simple, wouldn't you think?

If you have multiple time sig changes in a song, please note that each JS2 part must have the same time sig. So if you have one bar in 5/4 and the rest of the song is 4/4 then you need to create a part for the single 5/4 bar and click the part options and set it to 5/4.

It's a bit awkward due to VST specification limits.

Thanks, Ralph for the reply, I know you are slammed. I did make the 5/4 bar into a seperate part, but I still can't get it to show me the 5th beat, and like I said, it will show it to me as long as Sonar is running, but I can't add the hits that way. Any other ideas? You are getting a lot of good reviews on the Sonar forum btw!!

Actually, I thought that may have been the case for Milt's problem, which is why I decided to check it out, and found that even with the separate part for the seperate time signature I got the same problem, although as I said, I can actually get to the 5th beat if I do it right after opening the project. But if I change out of that part and come back, no dice.

Can you send me a JS2 'Save Song' file of how you have it set up so I can check this out?

Another Sonar user here - My bar editor will only allow me to edit the number of beats on any measure in the whole song as the number of beats in the very first measure of the song.

If the song starts in 3/4, changes to 4/4 or 2/4, 3 beats are what I can edit, period. Three on the 4/4 and three on the 2/4, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

This problem is similar to one I had in Jamstix1 with rhythm previews always playing the number of beats of the songs first measure.

Confirmed bug. Don't need the songs. Will be fixed in next hotfix. Thanks!

I guess a workaround would be to set up the song with a "dummy" measure at the front in sonar with the max number of beats you are going to put in a measure in the song? And of course a corrresponding 1 bar 1 rep part in jamstix....

aaahh nevermind... I see Ralph is on it thanx!

That's how I did the work around in Jamstix1 to preview rhythms.

Ralph, I just sent you the song file, and then I refeshed the thread and saw you had confirmed the bug. Glad you got it. Thanks

Just wanted to confirm that 2.0.7 did the trick... even solved a crash issue I had started having but didn't mention cuz I saw the patch was in the works for that too.

Great work Ralph!
