I think you should ask Steinberg to implement the Windows way instead. I am a Cubase 4 user, but still sometimes find it difficult that they don't follow Windows conventions. Probably because Cubase also runs on Macs.

Maybe we should just have both crtl and alt do the drag-copy thing and then use shift for the edit functions I suggested? It is important to get this optimal for people using different DAW programs working different ways. So a discussion here could be a good foundation for the best implementation.

If we can get the bar editor optimized there will be no reason to use JS1 any more (this thread started quoting me for that).

I think an option could be included which lets you decide what does what.

Copy ---- _ Ctrl ---- _ Shift ---- x Alt

Move ---- x Ctrl ---- _ Shift ---- _ Alt

Just a idea for a minor 'issue'. If nothing happens I won't die.

Duane.

It is logical that if you move an empty slot to an occupied slot you will get empty as a result. But there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to do edits in more than one way. For workflow it may, however, be easier if you can do more than one thing when you press an modifier key like alt. Then you can just keep it pressed while deleting one note, adding another and adjusting velocity, as an example.
