Hi I just downloaded the Jamstix 2 demo and am hosting it in Reaper. My song is arranged like so:
Intro - 1 bar
Verse - 6 bars (2x3 repetitions)
Half Bar Transition - 1 bar in 2/4 time
Verse - 6 bars (2x3)
Half Bar Transition - 1 bar in 2/4 time
Bridge - 6 bars (2x3)
In Reaper there is a time signature marker at the start and end of each Half Bar Transition. The one at the start changes to 2/4, the one at the end reverts to 4/4.
In Jamstix 2 I have checked Allow Time Sig Changes and changed each Half Bar Transition to 2/4 time. The first Half Bar Transition works perfectly and leads smoothly back into the second verse. The second transition sounds ok but by the time it gets to the Bridge it seems to get confused and ends up a couple of beats out. It sounds like it's treating the first bar of the verse as 6 beats long.
Apart from this minor hiccup I'm really impressed with this software so far.
Conor. |

Could you send me a REAPER project file that produces this behavior? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Did you receive the project file OK? Are you able to reproduce the behaviour? |

Please do this:
- Check the box 'Time Sig Changes'in the JS2 Options
- On each of your 2/4 parts, click on the length of the part in the JS2 song sheet and then set the time signature to 2/4.
Now everything works fine.
This added work is needed due to the fact that the VST interface does not properly deal with time sig changes during a song concerning song positioning. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hmm not sure what's going on here. I had already checked the time sig changes box and altered the time signatures to 2/4, that definitely wasn't where the problem lay.
However just now I went back to Reaper and deleted all the Time Sig Markers and then put them back in again. Everything is now working correctly.
I can still see the 'wrong' behaviour by opening that project i sent to you Ralph, so you may want to take another look at it when things are less hectic! Of course it could be a problem on the Reaper side of things.
Anyway I'm not going to spend any more time worrying about it, I am loving the software and I'll be making a purchase within the next couple of days. Congratulations on this wonderful application! |
