I sent you another one by mail, let me know if that one works.

These issues stem from anti-debugging mechanisms that we need to put into Jamstix to protect it but Waves, with its notorious Pace Interlok protection (that's where they lost me as a customer), clashes with them.

Hi! Zauni,
No, I'm not usng the demo version, but I have been using the previous release of Jamstix with Cubase SX3 (fully updated to latest revision) and Sonar 3.1.1 and Ableton Live 4, so far without any problems. (To be honest, I have only given Jamstix the most brief of trial runs on Live 4.1.1).

My system specs:
ASUS K8V Deluxe
1 GB RAM
40 GB System hard drive
60 GB Bulk Storage hard drive
320 GB RAID (Stripe) Audio Sample hard drive
160 GB RAID (Mirror) Audio hard drive
Windows XP Home SP2 (flully updated), with firewaire patch applied
Matrox P650 graphics card dual head, with 2 x IIyama Prolite 430s
UAD-1
RME Fireface
M-Audio Radium 61 MIDI controller

Hope this helps,

If I reapplied the updated dll, I presume I should be be able to retrieve an arror log from somehere to send to you? If this would provide you wit some useful information, I would be happy to do so. At the moment, I'm not sure where I would find it in Windows, but I will look into it a bit deeper.

Regards,

PeteD

Pete,
could you run this DLL for me, which I expect to work fine:

http://66.235.201.50/updates/jamstixWaves.zip

and then try this one:

http://66.235.201.50/updates/jamstix.dll

There's no need for logs at this time.
Much appreciated!

Hi Zauni,
I will run them both when I get in this evening and report back.

Zauni,
It's the double arrow reset button next to the play button at the bottom left thats supposed to reset everything back to the first bar. I'm using JS in Chainer, if that's any help. Thanks.

It works fine here. Could you check it with this one?

I just updated the links in the first post of this thread. Main changes from last RC are:

  • compatible with Waves plugins
  • visually improved buttons
  • during first run, trim knob is reset to middle position

Please try it out and tell me how it works for you.

Zauni,
Ok, I just loaded the very latest (per your post above) ver. of JS into Chainer, jammed in "Free Jam" mode for 100 bars using my midi keyboard controller with JS set to "Jam With Midi". I then hit the 'start play' button to turn it from a square shape to an arrow, stopping JS. Then I hit the 'rewind to the beginning button' and the beat display goes to 1 (as it should, I suppose), but the bar display (current bar as indicated by the host) stays at 100. Isn't it supposed to reset to 1 also, like the beat display? Uh, oh!, strange, it just reset to 1 when I tried it again, but then when I hit the start button and played again it continued at 120 or so, and now it won't reset again when I stop and try to reset it!? It's like an intermittent problem, or something. Hmmm?

I use Chainer VSTi 1.03 here and cannot duplicate this at all...hmm

Hi Zauni,
I've tried both DLLs tonight. The Waves DLL loads, but won't play in manual jam. (I didn't try it in free jam). The other DLL loads and plays in manual jam and free jam in SX3.02 and Sonar 3.1.1, in both audio and MIDI modes. No problems found with either. Oh yes and it's also fine with BFD as an external VSTi. I haven't tried importing MIDI or mixing down yet, but I will do so tomorrow night. I'm too tired for any more tonight and it's back to the day job tomorrow.

Just out of curiosity, I tried the modified DLL with Melodyne, loading it as a VSTi. The PC all but halts while its loading and it takes about 15 minutes to do so. However, once loaded it does seem to work although this was hardly a thorough test. I think that I will continue to use it in the main sequencers, where it performs at it's best.

Regards,

Pete

If there is anything in particular that you would like me to try, just ask. I'll be visiting the forum at least once a day.

I know I'm not in the Chainer thread... but get similar results as what Panther sees... I can't get the bar count to move back to zero or one in Chainer either.... what I see is that either Chainer or JS just starts counting bars in Chainer from the moment it becomes active and then never stops or resets to start the bar count again..... perhaps there is a reset button I'm missing but I have looked and tried all that I've found.

Using the Stop on the JS Gui inside Chainer is like a pause really... even Stop and then reset and then play just continues from the same bar count as when it was Stopped....

I had just figured this was a prob. particular to Chainer since it has no transport control of it's own.

the only way I find to get back to a bar one is to exit JS and Chainer and then start all over.

And this is Chainer 1.03?

We found the problem with the return-to-zero button. Here it goes:

The issue occurs only in hosts that send SPP (song position pointer) but have no transport facilities. At the moment I can only see this in SAVIHost and Chainer Stand-Alone. The reason I couldn't duplicate this in Chainer originally was that I used Chainer as a VSTi (not stand-alone). When used that way, Chainer does not send SPP.

The real solution is of course for SAVIHost and Chainer Standalone to offer either transport functions or auto-reset the SPP as other thin hosts do and even Chainer itself already in VSTi mode.

As a work-around, the next update of Jamstix will detect this situation and automatically switch to non-SPP mode internally, which will then make the return-to-zero button work again.

Thanks!
